Ok as i have said,,,,I have been once,,spent one day at MK and another at Epcot
even with planning etc,,,,i could have for sure spent another day at Epcot and prolly another at MK
i went by the PASSPORTER plans and got to see it all,,,BUT would have loved to just mosey around and soak up the magic
Our dream trip it to have at least a week with the mouse
I have read though that some people dont think Animal Kingdom is a whole day park and rather a half day at best
If we ever get to do this(cmon state Lottery,,,lol)
we would want to see it all
what are your thoughts on spending a whole day at Animal Kingdom?

I think it can be done, particularly if you have never been before, there are a few shows to watch as well as the conservation station, which takes some time to get to as you need to get on the train. Just take your time soak up all the animal exhibits take lots of photos, re-ride some of the best rides, like Dinosaur etc and you will easily be occupied for a whole day! Animal Kingdom usually has quite short opening hours anyway so it is not like you will be there late into the evening. I have been to WDW 5 times and we always spend at the very least the best part of a full day at Animal Kingdom, maybe finishing by about 3-4pm if we are there for rope drop and skip the odd show, this includes riding Dinosaur multiple times, amazing ride!

Definitely worth checking out if you have not seen them before, particularly Nemo, I'm not a huge fan of watching it multiple times as I have already seen it but it is worth at least one watch.

I do it all the time. AK is not a park that you simply run from attraction to attraction at break neck speed like you do at most theme parks. You need to relax and soak in the atmosphere.

If you have never been to AK you should take as much time as you want to check out all the nooks and cranies, shows and rides. We've been multiple times and so when we visit we go in and ride the safari then over to Dinosaur and back out again. Thats all we care to do. We've roamed the beautiful
trails and seen the animals many times and so we just come in and do our favorite two rides and then head out to another park. Yes, you could spend a day there.

I had this same question the first time I went to AK, and I found that I loved the park and could easily spend the day there (especially since it closes so early). Nemo was my favorite show in all of WDW - awesome! As others have said, it's definitely a park to take at more leisurely pace - enjoy the scenery, walk the trails and see the animals, ride the safari at different times during the day, check out all the carvings on the Tree, etc. We also really enjoyed Dinosaur and Expedition Everest, and rode those multiple times.

You can not do AK in a half day if you wish to take in each show, "ride" type attraction, parade, and walking paths.

People who say this is a half day park say it because it only takes them half a day to do the limited stuff they want to do. I could say the same thing about MK if I only wanted to ride Space Mountain, HM, and POTC and then leave the park.

After over 20 trips I can honestly say that I regularly spend full days at every park. I have the option available to park hop if more than one ride is down on the day I'm in a given park, but rarely use it.

IMO people who indicate any of the parks are "half-day" either only ride or see anything once and skip over a lot or rush through at an insane pace...

I always split my days, so I spent the morning in one park and the afternoon in another park. I REALLY miss the evening EMH at DAK. LOVED it.

I think you can spend at LEAST a day at DAK. I plan to spend 2 half days there on my upcoming trip. I love coming back to a park later in the week to ride favorites again.

You can definitely get in all the major attractions by lunchtime, but it's great to really walk the forest trails and take in all the details. FotLK is a show NOT to be missed. For the first time on our last trip I saw Flights of Wonder, which was also phenomenal. I'm not the biggest fan of Nemo, but some people really like it. If you're trying to fit in those 3 shows along with the attractions and maybe a trip to Rafiki's Planet Watch (something I'll admit I've never done), it can be a full day park and more. I make it a full day park by riding EE and Dinosaur multiple times. Love those rides despite all that is broken about them. If you can ride KS once in the morning and once later in the day, chances are it will be different each time in terms of which animals you get to see, etc.'

I forgot to say that at the end of the day or near it,,, ask a cm about this. There is an are3a where they bring out the gorilla's here are 3 cms that feed them snacks and you can watch them and she explains all about them and how they are put up and that she has a hand signal for each one that says you can go to your cage now your food is there. They have to go separate because they know there good food is there and will not share. Very interesting You just have to be there. We stumbled upon it.. Yes, flights is a good show. Everything about that park is great. I for the life of me cannot understand why people go to Disney for a vacation and only go for certain rides. They are missing so much of all the parks. You can swim anywhere anytime but this is DISNEY.. Go for the parks and all it has to offer is what we go for.

I agree with you 100%, but there are people that go to Disney but still want to have a "relaxing" vacation. Going to the parks from open to close including EMH can be quite tiring, and sometimes stressful. I understand that some families, especially those with small children, might enjoy some "time off" to just lay by the pool.

For my case, I am young and don't have kids, so I either go alone or with a few friends. We are there from open to close, "running" (speed walking) from attraction to attraction. Our hotel is simply a bed to us.

(This is also why I usually claim that DAK is a half day park. Even if I'm not rushing from ride to ride, I can cover it all before the park closes, so I'll head over to EPCOT or something for the rest of the day.)

I've never done a full day at Animal Kingdom and it's been several trips since we've done a full day at Hollywood Studios. Some people love Animal Kingdom, though! You can always plan a full day there and then cut it short if you feel like you're done early. We like to wander around the Animal Kingdom Lodge after a day at the park.

I still do not get it... If you see everything you run our of day..Especially since there is no more EMH in the evening. We do not open the park unless we have an early Tusker. We always do Tusker breakfast. Best breakfast of all the parks and the whole original Mickey gang. MUCH better than Chef Mickeys. If you eat 2 meals there and parade time plus all the walks and even just standing and watching DiVine for a while its still more than half day park and rafiki's is a great train triop relaxing lets you get rested for the rest of the park. Plus we ride everything 2 times or ore while we are there. Eat at Yak and Yetis to finish off the day.., Oh yea we have Flame Tree for sure.
