It's time for another "every little bit counts" SPACE update.

The Marquee saying "SPACE" around Earth is now fully exposed to the elements and the flashing camera bulbs.

The entire right hillside (toward test track) is landscaped, as is the circular planter in the front.

Four large trees have been added outside the walled area. They are sculpted to be round, and remind me of giant ice cream scoops or koosh-balls. Two are on the alkway leading from Wonders to Space and the other 2 are near Test Track.

The light were lit up yesterday during a rainstorm, so everyone got to see the area illuminated. I don't beleive all of the lighting is finished, just the basic lighting. Pin spots similar to those embedded in the ground around leave a legacy are pointed up at the "swooshes" of Space. Another swoosh was recently added on the large red ball near and behind jupiter. This one is chrome-ish and reflected the rear of jupiter like a mirror.

Additional lights poke out from over the top of the wall. They look like futuristic "torches" like you'd see in some sci-fi movie. Sort of Q-tip shaped.

SPACE may now have its own area music. Me and a friend were chatting in the area near the Coffee Shop in the Wonder/Energy courtyard and suddenly a musical "rumble" came from the Horizon's courtyard that didn't match the rest of the area music in Innoventions or Energy/Wonders.

I would of explored more thoroughly, but the thought didn't occur to me at the time. It was raining.

Oh yeah..

The little domed building off to the left seemed completely hollow save for a cement mixer sitting inside it. Atleast it look like a cement mixer. You never know.

I was at EPCOT three weeks ago and it seemed then that they were working HARD on getting the front area finished. After reading the boards it seems that the work has not slowed down yet. Kinda sounds like (and looks like) they are trying to finish ahead of schedule.

I have a feeling that is going to be the exit of the attraction with of course a shop, its the perfect spot off to the side where guests going on will not clash with guests getting off.

just a thought

Well if there is a cement mixer in there, they probably need to do more cement work or something. Construction crews are usually pretty quick to get rid of equipment that they don't need.

I agree that it's probably a gift shop, because this area could go up last, and would be realtively quick and easy to build (much as the corporate lounge would be.

The tricky part of building these buildings is that they have to house rides that require not only huge power supply, but huge mechanics that have to be tested for months before it is opened to the public.

I agree that it will probably be the shop...but...it throws me off a little. In my honest opinion, if they were planning on opening the pavilion BEFORE the attraction...I KNOW they would have the shop OPEN (merchandising brings in A LOT OF MONEY) and can you IMAGINE how much they'd make on the NEW MERCHANDISE for an attraction that has YET to open...Disney FANATICS would FLOCK!

Well....that's very true...but they can probably build that shop in a couple weeks, and have it set up in a few days after that.

The exterior wall is supposed to come down before the end of the year, so they have plenty of time in my book.

I was figuring sooner than that! I was thinking within the next month or so...But, now that I think about it...the "shop" is pretty bare right now and still needs a lot of touching up...along with the "swoosh" that is coming down on the right hand side of the building (it seems like it needs to be cladded on the top)

I wouldn't be surprised if it opens before the end of the month. The shop will rake in tons of dough with offical M:S merchandise (think off all the cool stuff with it's logo on it.)

Also, when do you think the preview center will be closed?
