"Enchanted" coming in November...

Did anyone see last week's Entertainment Weekly magazine, for their "Fall Movie Preview" issue? They had a pretty good article about "Enchanted," a new Disney film coming out this November, about an animated princess (Amy Adams) who somehow escapes the animated world, and crawls up a manhole into modern live-actioin Manhattan. She meets Patrick Dempsey, as a single-dad lawyer, who takes her home.

I never knew about the movie, but article is very informative -- and actually makes the whole idea sound fun (even though it also makes it clear that the Disney marketing machine is already geared-up for another princess to replicate in the parks and on store shelves).

But the most interesting thing, I thought, was that it will be a musical, and not a cynical. They tappen Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz (of Pocahontas) to do the music. And about 10 minutes of the movie is animated -- traditional animation style.

So, hmmm..... we will see. Maybe they are heading back a little to their roots. Who knows?

If you have the magazine, it is on pages 76 - 79 of the August 24 edition (with Reese Witherspoon on the cover). Here is a link to the article online, although the magazine had more pics: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20051361_20051365_20052039,00.html

I can honestly say that I'm split on this movie. Parts of it look terriffic and hilarious, while other parts look a little over the top and stupid. Oh well, if the reviews are good, I'll probably see it.

I'm not really that interested in this movie...just the animated parts which I don't think will be worth the price of admission for me.

I don't know, I expected it have more animated sequences in it from what I had been reading about months ago...but, then things started leaning towards more live action and less animation.

I've had the exact opposite thoughts.I resently saw and learned about the movie in my mall's "Disney" Store.I saw the preview which starts with various clips from the classics of the 1990's and later and boasting that this movie is going to top them all.Stunned and thrilled at the return or REAL Animation I watched the few quick scenes of the animated protion and was equally as stunned when it turned live action.Even more quickly as I saw the foolishness of the story and the complete rip- off of other disney characters(Millificent/Price Charming)And then it hit me:Disney is mocking them selves! They show the Prince begin to sing(As in the fantastic musical style of the '90's disney films)and then promplty be knocked over by a troup of cyclists. To me it seems that Disney is mocking and pocking fun at some of their best and classic works.

A step in the WRONG direction if I'm concerned.

I'm sorry if this post seems a bit too inflamitory but these are my oppinions and I have been waiting for a oppertunity to express them.

Thanks,

I don't think Disney is mocking their classic movies in a bad way...I think they're just taking a formula and putting it in a different context, making it funny. I mean come on, we love Belle from Beauty and the Beast, but imagine if she was out in the real world somewhere...it would be pretty funny! And that's the concept here. I was really excited when I saw the trailer for this, first off because I think Amy Adams is the perfect personification of a Disney cartoon princess! And also because I think it's a fantastic idea, and I actually applaud them for taking their formula and putting a "fish out of water" twist on it.

I never said I hated the storyline...In fact,I think it looks great,it's very creative.I just don't like the fact that they are patronizing some of their best work

Just my 2 cents:)

I see...I still don't think they're patronizing it, but to each his own I guess! When I see Enchanted, I'm not going to think any less of the classic Disney cartoons because of it...actually it makes me happy to know that Disney has a sense of humor! I'm glad to see that you still think it looks great though :)

On another note, I'm also especially excited to see Susan Sarandon as the evil witch in this one...I think she personifies that character perfectly.
