Ellen DeGeneres is in talks to return for the Finding Nemo sequel which Pixar has yet to officially announce, according to Heat Vision.

DeGeneres will again voice the role of Dory. The original film's writer and director, Andrew Stanton, is set to return for a sequel based on his own original concept. Victoria Strouse is writing the script and Lindsey Collins is producing.

The 2003 release won an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for three others. With a total of $867.6 million worldwide, it was the second-highest grossing film of 2003. The movie will return to theaters as Finding Nemo 3D on September 14.

A 2016 release date is being projected for the sequel, says the trade.

I've watched her shows the past 3 years, she has always made jokes about finding nemo and how she would never make a sequel. This blows my mind.

If this is true, I hope Disney lets her announce it on her show. She really does talk about it all the time, even though I can't watch her show very much anymore, I still remember.

But WHY are they making a sequel out of "Finding Nemo"????

I mean, yeah, "Cars" got a sequel because of its successful merchandizing, but surely "Nemo" was never the cash cow "Cars" is in that department. So...why???

Three reasons............Nemo is Pixar's 2nd highest grossing feature, Andrew Stanton needs redemption, and (And I stress this!) Pixar is losing its touch with story. The problem is how the heck are they going to follow it up? Nemo was about as self-contained a movie as any I have ever seen.

Err... doesn't Pixar still make original movies?

Sure, we might be getting this and that Monsters Inc. prequel next year, but what about those dinosaur and brain projects they just announced?

I know they still make original films, but instead of one sequel and one new film, how about two new ones? Sequels are great if that is an opening movies intent, to start a franchise or break up a lengthy story into manageable films. But a sequel to Finding Nemo? No, that movie was an example of a perfectly self contained story. It just all comes off as an easy score at the box office.

It's fairly obvious that the sequal has to be about Nemo coming of age and finding who he is and how he fits into that Big Blue World..........or on a plate.

Actually, Michael Eisner is partly to "blame" for the long string of Pixar's early, original films. They had a contract with Disney for a certain number of movies, and Eisner was pushing for original films so that there would be more characters to market. I'm not sure if this was a threat or if it was actually carried out with Toy Story 2, but I know he wanted to have sequels not count against the number of films Disney was owed. That original contract ran through Cars, I believe.

There are three new and original films set to be released between Monsters University and the supposed sequel to Finding Nemo (which can change at any time, much like how Newt did). There's the Good Dinosaur, which is about a modern universe in which dinosaurs still existed, The Untitled Film That Takes You Inside the Mind, which is supposedly about entering the mind of a teenage girl, and The Untitled Film That... is inspired by this one Halloween/Mexican holiday, I forgot the name.

They're not JUST making sequels... Give Pixar a break, people.
