Elf on the Shelf at Disney World

I have a bit of a dilemma,

Our Elf Luke arrives Thanksgiving night.
He then continues to make mischief for the next month. I don't know if I'd say I go "all out", but I do have a huge Pinterest board of Elf ideas and every night is something different. Things like being taped to a wall, playing a game, zip lining, spelling "be good" with M&Ms, basically all the normal Pinterest stuff that I'm sure you all have seen.

So-- How am I going to do this at Disney World??
We are leaving our house at 3am on Thanksgiving night. (Technically the day after), do I have him arrive at the hotel or before we leave?
Also, should I speak with housekeeping and let them know that he can't be moved?

Please give me experienced tips!

Does Luke have to come to Disney World? Can't he keep an eye on the kids from home because he's magic and what-not? (Yes, I'm a bad and lazy Mom. We've never done Elf on the Shelf, in large part because I do not have that kind of time and energy!)

However, if I had to find things for an elf to do at WDW, I'd consider:

1 - ziplining or otherwise "hanging out" on the in-shower clothesline
2 - perched on the showerhead wrapped in a washcloth (like a person would wrap a towel around them) and a tiny shower cap
3 - on a table, trying on everybody's Magic Bands, or stuck upside-down in a [clean] souvenir mug
4 - sorting the dirty laundry (with a clothespin on his nose)
5 - checking out the in-wall safe
6 - browsing a park map, wearing tiny Mickey ears
7 - raiding your in-room fridge, with a half-eaten treat of some kind
8 - busting into the coffee pods (or trying to make hot chocolate) for the in-room coffeemaker

I LOVE all of these ideas!! Thank You!!!! I just have to trust myself to wake up in the middle of the night to do them, I'm a bit worried about that.
Have him send a note the night he usually arrives explaining that he decided to go on vacation too since you guys are! You can even stage some photos before you leave and have him text your kids from his vacation?
Brilliant! That would be perfect, don't know if I could get away with it..but wow, that would solve so many problems!

My kid looks forward to Luke's arrival all year. He doesn't ask "How many days til Thanksgiving?" He asks "Mommy, How many sleeps until Luke comes back to our house?" Lol

Not sure if your kids know, but last year Suzie (our elf) brought our magic bands to us a when they arrived for our trip (we checked in December 18th I believe).

Suzie made the trip to Disney as well. To be honest it wasnt hard for her to do her thing because the kids were so tired they slept like rocks.

Or either I would take the kids to the bus stop and then DW would go back tot he room to "use the bathroom" so when we got back from the parks the kids saw the mischief.

The day of the game you're watching, give him the other teams colors or something! That would be funny

Our Elf Snowflake Sparkle Twinkle :)rolleyes:) will be coming with us! Our trip is from Nov 27-Dec 4.

We are leaving bright and early Sunday after Thanksgiving which means she will get into Disney hi jinx before we leave... thinking about having her in the car for that morning with some nice fluffy Frozen blankets I got for my girls for the trip!

Then... for the morning of December 1st I bought a Tsum Tsum Advent calendar that said elf will gift them with :D We LOVE Tsum Tsums!

I saw on Facebook last night that someone was asking if anyone had any extra lids to the shampoo's from Disney. You know, the ones shaped like Mickey ears...they wanted to use it as a hat for their elf! So cute...I thought maybe you could use that idea! I have some if u don't!@21stamps
Oh great idea!!!!
I don't think we had any mickey head shampoos during our stay...:(

My daughter's elf visited during a trip to Disney. As always, I had to remember to get up before her (that's a problem at home too). I put him in my carry on for the airport and left mouse keeping a not to not move him. Some of the things he did: peeped out of drinking mug, had a Mr. Potato Head sword and posed with other potato head accessories, got glittered by a Cinderella doll (we had glitter in case the tooth fairy needed it), and had a Disney pen and park map with places circled on it like he was planning on touring for the day. The tricky part was getting him moved on our last day so he could be seen that morning and still packed up in luggage. Luckily, she was so excited she didn't notice him after she found him that day. Wait a few years, now that the gig is up with Elfie, she hides him and makes him do crazy stuff for my hubby and I to find. Have a great trip!

We went to China last Thanksgiving and I had my parents place our elf Twinkle in our house with a welcome home sign. Our 6 year old loved it and we looked at as a week of not having to move the silly thing :) enjoy your vacation.
