Electric Parade/Spectromagic Parade

Bottom line: Disney LIED to us! In spring 2009 - "Summer Nightastic" was announced with the "limited" return of MSEP to the Magic Kingdom. At that time we did not know if it was going to be 3 months (summer) or a 2 year run - if the latter many spectromagic fans were ok with this because we knew we would get the parade back. Well 2 years passed and nothing. Rumours were spectromagic was being rehabbed, getting new floats, new music, etc. By early 2013 someone reported that they saw the parade in a storage room and was rotted and dismayed. It was hard to believe then a few months later disney confirmed that the parade would never return and instead sold pins of its death.

In spectromagic defense - by the end it was literally falling apart. Year by year the parade got shorter and shorter. But the same is true of MSEP - that parade is downright pathetic. But its more so a rubberband in the MK because people expect a nighttime parade.

I anticipate in the next 10 years we will get a new nighttime parade. But even Wishes is getting old now. So I do not know. In either situation - I do not waste my time watching MSEP its a bore. I watch wishes then head back to the rides.

They are both colorful, happy parades. Just goes to show how tastes vary and perferences very personal. Last April I managed to get a chair near one of the shops and thoroughly enjoyed the parade from my seated vantage point.

I would love to see Spectromagic again but by all means with all new units. The old ones were outdated and as stale looking as the Caldor logo.

The music is what did it for me - I could listen to the music all day. While I liked the parade - many of the units were meh. I liked the Mickey float and all of the finale part, and little mermaid.

The original WDW version of the Main Street Electric Parade got shipped over seas (too Paris I think) when Spectromagic debuted. The one that's currently WDW is the one that was originally in DL, it was then moved to DCA which has no "Main Street" so they shorted the name to just the Electrical Parade, and never changed it back when they shipped it to WDW

Spectromagic is not coming back, apparently those floats fell apart, but allegedly a new night time parade is in the works for WDW
I thought there was one in the works for DL 60th?
Also heard that WDW MSEP was shipped to DLP then to HKDL then destroyed. I don't know if that's true.

I love the Spectro music. It's on e of my favorite things to listen to. MSEP kinda takes me back to when I was little. But I think I would like a whole new nighttime parade! My Trip to Walt Disney World

There is supposedly something new coming to DL for their 60th, and the WDW MSEP was shipped to Paris when Sepctro opened in WDW.

But Paris has a fairly new parade, Tokyo has a new night parade, DL is soon to get a new one, and since WDW has the 42 year old DL original parade it's presumed that at some point in the not to distant future it will get changed up some how. The Tinker Bell Float that starts the current WDW parade is fairly new though, they could keep that and add in other floats from other parks, but there also seems to be speculation that he new daytime parade, Festival of Fantasy, can be run at night

Maybe in our dreams :) Spectromagic is dead and will never return. The floats have been trashed.
You know... if the floats were trashed and replaced with new ones and same music that would be a good thing but we got robbed. As much as I like the Electrical Parade something with it ain't rite. I guess the absence of the Blue Fairy, Circus units and the new music kind of ruin it. When they said Main Street Electrical Parade I was expecting the whole thing.

I feel that WDW wont get a new light parade until 2021 (MK's 50th) or later. TDO is focusing on AK (Avatar) and DS, then onto DHS (SW) with small projects at EPCOT (Frozen overlay) to boost their attendance.

Unless someone finds metal-eating termites to destroy MSEP its not going away for the foreseeable future. (This fiscal year)

I agree, I can't see them spending money on another parade too quickly. However they do have "night parades" for the Halloween and Christmas parties, those are just normal floats that they run with all the street lights on. So there is speculation they might just retire the MSEP and start running the new Festival of Fantasy at night as well, because all of the FoF floats have little strobe lights built into them... for some reason... but the strobes don't really show up during the day time.
