"Eisner, since he's leaving on a certain date, will try to maximize profits until 2006, and who knows what that will entail."
I don't know about that. It's more likely he'll try to leave a legacy. He'll do that by 1.) some tangible project, a "swan song" if you will. and 2.) by laying the ground-work for a successor. The best way to insure his successor survives is by planting seeds that will come to fruition shortly after ME leaves, boosting profits for the first few quarters, and making his boy look good. Burning down the house at this point will not endear him to his successors and shareholders.
"Most imortantly, the shareholders will be less likely to listen to the SaveDisney team when they argue for a management change.....
Maybe SaveDisney could argue that allowing Eisner's choice, Iger, will only continue his plans, and instead endorse another candidate who shares our vision!"
I think this will make the shareholders more likely to listen to Roy & Co. since change is now inevitable. Eisner's track record isn't as solid as he'd like it to be. I think the share-holders will be looking for someone strong, but different from ME. Roy & Co. have an excellent opportunity to show that a return to the corporate roots will be the best way to boost returns.
