Eisner refuses to wear mouse ears.

Thought this was pretty interesting. It's from last night's celebrity only party at DL:

from MousePlanet.com

"The most interesting event of the 'gold carpet' arrivals involved Michael Eisner. As you'll see in the photo below he was carrying a set of gold Mickey ears. Many of the celebrities wore theirs, while others just carried them. However, when asked by a photographer to put his Mickey ears on, Eisner's attending publicist responded with 'not a chance.' Read into that what you will."

Now what's up with that? Bob Iger apparently wasn't wearing his either.

Man that's not cool. He could've at least put them on for a quick photo. What a jackhole. At least Iger took a little time 5/4 to get out into the park and talk to some folks visiting MK. This is just showing how big a jerk Eisner is and how much I can't wait for Oct. 1.

If he did put them on can you imagine the photos in the Wall Street Journal or other news papers when he leaves Disney? lol

Rule #1: Most of what is posted on the internet is not true

Rule #2: When something comes from people who have a certain point of view, i.e., that Eisner is the Devil, it assuredly is not true

While I'm sure there exists a picture of Eisner holding the ears in his hands, I can almost gaurantee that a Disney Cast Member who has one of the highest places in the company (the CEO's publicist), would not be so stupid as to make that remark.

Normally, I'd agree about most of what's on the internet not being true, but MousePlanet tends to be among the most reliable for Disney stuff and is not conspicuously anti-Eisner (though I'm sure as Disney fans most of them don't like him). But of course we really have no way of knowing if it is true, though after reading a lot of stories about Eisner it would hardly be a surprise.

As for the Wall Street Journal, so what? He's the man in charge of Disney, I think it would be acceptable for him to be wearing mouse ears to celebrate a huge celebration kick-off, but I'll leave that up to you.

Well he did say on Larry King back in the 90's that all Disney park employees could be replaced with trained monkeys.

Eisner has this thing about hats. He doesn't look very good in them.

Have you ever heard the rumors about how he wouldn't let Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum come out as costumed characters ? Because of sensitivity to people with mental disabilities, etc?

Take a look at the masks the characters wear, and then picture Eisner with a red beanie on his head. :) They are almost identical.

That said, the pictures that have been coming out have amazed me. I guess I hadn't realized how old Eisner had gotten - especially that pic of him in the retro T-shirt. All hunched over and stuff.

Ah, time marches on, and eventually it marches right across your face. ;)

AEfx, who's putting on eye cream as we speak :P

While this is not the most important issue at hand, I really want to share my opinion on this one . . . Not a good show!

I have no inside connection to the happenings on the business or cast side of Disney except what I read from cast members and postings, so I really am not pro or con-Eisner. That being said, I do have an advanced degree in marketing; so, I don't care how silly you feel . . . if you expect millions to buy your "signature" souvenir item, then when presented with them at a media-covered event, you put the darn ears on! Even if you are on your way out of your position, you're still collecting a huge pay check (and will continue to for some time) from the company! A picture is worth a thousand words; and I think the obligatory way that they are simply holding the ears speaks volumes. If he didn't like the standard ears, they should have made a special mickey ears pin, tie, etc. for him to wear in order to blend in with the rest. And what's with Eisner's outfit anyway . . not sure of the dress code for the event, but looks to me like he's headed more to a sporting event?

Can you blame them for not wanting to wear those? I mean....they're fugly....

:lookaroun
Agreed. No one here knows the reason why he wouldn't put them on. I don't blame the guy. Cut him some slack. Some of you on here wouldn't be happy if he walked up and gave you $1000.

I hate Eisner and I'm a bit suspicious of Iger...but if they walked up to me and said "Oz, here's $1000 dollars," I'd be the REAL....and I mean REAL....happy.

Since both of them in the picture were holding the ears, it's not a big deal. If there were several people in the picture and he was the only one not wearing them, that would be an issue. I do think 'pat in the hat' is correct. It's a marketing issue and he could have put the ears on for a few minutes for pictures. At the end of the day, this is really a non-issue.

I need to go look, but I could have sworn that I have seen Eisner wearing Mickey Ears before... maybe the opening of one of the international parks?

He's dressing down to play the part of the lame duck. The outgoing CEO doesn't want to upstage the incoming. Eisner doesn't want to taint the 50th celebration as his swan song. He probably was surprised by the cool weather and got caught without a coat. His publicist should have taken care of that. He's fired!

My completely nonbiased-un-Eisner-hating opinion: That picture looks weird.

Wear 'em or chuck 'em...They look odd just standing there holding them. *shrug*

Hmmm... Bob Iger isn't wearing them either.

Um, so why is Eisner any different than Iger?

Just my (marketing/pr) opinion . . . photo-op for major celebration, neither of them should be caught with "their ears down!" :lookaroun I don't care how many times you have to sprout the ears, it "comes with the job" especially for such special events!
