Excuse me? When did I EVER insinuate that I was an Eisner supporter? Please reference the post.

If I misread your post, that was not my intention.

I think Eisner has brought plenty good, but even more bad Hence, your entire post is based upon a something I didn't even say or write. Now, that's a pretty close-minded thing to do.

I've read way too many posts on this board proclaiming Eisner to be Satan's spawn (he's no saint either). This just ain't true, no matter whom you support. I'm sorry I took your post as an example, but WAY too many members here like to say these petty comments without the knowledge or factual basis to back it up. That to me is annoying.

Imagineer99, The part of my post that was directed at you was about the comment you made regarding my quoting the Wizard of Oz reagarding Eisners leaving and how it sounded like you were assuming how informed I was about the whole situation. I did not intend to paint you as an Eisner Supporter but if I came off that way I owe you an apology. My quote fromthe Wizard of Oz was just a way of saying I am glad he is leaving. I think I fall on the side that does not support him but I try to be a realist about it all. I do not feel that he is Satans Spawn but I do feel that he has never really been the right person for the job and now is very bad for the company...anyway....

I guess this all goes to show how passionate we all are about how Disney is and should be.

One more question: How many movie companies exist under the Disney umbrella?

There is Touchstone, Disney, Miramax, Buena Vista? What else?

Here's an exact breakdown from the '03 Annual Report:

Walt Disney Pictures (includes WD Feature Animation & DisneyToon Studios)
Touchstone Pictures
Hollywood Pictures
Miramax Films
Dimension Films
Buena Vista International

I think that at the start Eisner and Wells were Awesome for the company! They literally saved the company from certain doom! When Wells died Eisner got greedy and he lost the vision that The
2 had for Disney and strayed from the things that made the company great, and money became the only driving force in every decision and the parks and movie quality fell because of this.I will always thank Eisner and Wells god bless his soul for saving the company, but it time for Eisner to go, he has lost his creative touch.

As I have stated on another thread, It would like to see Roy Disney take over the ceo position, I would be nice to see a Disney run the Disney company again! :D

While I agree that Eisner lost his way, I don't think that greed on his part was the driving force. One has to look at the economic forces driving public companies over the last 12 years. The short term focus on the bottom line, Wall Street's "What have you done with the stock price this quarter" mentality, the fact that he did build the company in the first 10 years to the tune of billions and billions of dollars, merging two large companies (ABC and Disney), 9/11, etc. HE already had enough money. He made some bad decisions after losing his partner and under all of the other pressures. However, I don't believe those decisions were driven by greed - just less willingness to take risks. Like now - If I were making decisions, I would take a risk and put tons of talent and money into 2D anaimation to show the world that it is not dead.

As to Roy. No way! THere are tons of stories about him not really running Animation during and after the Katzenberg era. He has not proven that he can run the Company. Even he knows it. Otherwise, he would be pushing to do it himself.

AskMike1, I do have one more question.
On your own Disney Web site you only gave Eisner's performance a "4" on a scale from 1-10. Isn't that kind of a bad grade for him. Even I would give him a 7.5. Possibly a 8.5 before Frank Wells died and Jef Katzenberg left.
Thank you for reminding me. I made that page over two and a half years ago. That was back when I didn't have my own opinion on him and I was just following everyone else. Once the Roy Disney Kuffuffel happened late last year, I started to form my own opinion. I now changed the rating to a 9.5. I am rating him on his whole career as CEO of WDC. Sure he made a few bad decisions that kept him off of a 10 (namely some sequels and DLP Studios). However, a lot of his bad mistakes has something that cancels it out. ESPN cancels out ABCFamily. Rasulo and Oumiatt cancells out Pressler and Harris. The Millenium Celebration makes up for the Birthday-Cake Castle (jk, I don't think anythign makes up for that castle treatment). Anyway, I do know that I can't agree with someone on every point (and some on any points) but I understand and agree to disagree.

I couldn't agree more. People automatically take a liking to Roy becuase of his last name. Well, frankly, everything I have ever heard about Roy as a leader has been negative.

Our new CEO needs to be creative and experienced, and as you said, willing to take risks.

I dont think that one person is the answer to the problems currently in the Disney Company. I think it takes a team of two people to make it work. It started with Walt and Roy Sr. and eventually Eisner and Wells. I believe that is where we need to go now. One to oversee the business side and one to over see the creative side. The company is to much for any one person to handle.

I will definately agree with you there! It needs to be a group of people, not just one person!
