Eiffel Refurb?

While preparing for my WDW vacation (leave this Friday), I read on another Disney site that the Eiffel Tower in the France Pavilion has been removed for refurbishment of some sort.

Is this true??:veryconfu Anyone have any proof?

I don't know if it's still gone, but it wasn't there on August 28th. I didn't even notice it was missing when I took this picture:

On the 3rd it got hit by Lightning (and we were right at the Intl Gateway Boat Dock) That was Scary!!!!

I saw it there in the beginning of my trip, and then didn't even look for it afterward. I didn't notice it until it was mentioned here.

I was backstage last Tuesday when they took it down with a crane.
It's being cleaned and painted, and will be back in 2 months or so.

Yeah on my trip to Epcot this weekend I noticed that.

I spoke with a CM today. She said it will be back up in 5 days. Looks funny without it.

What looks more funny is driving the Cast Shuttle back there, and then seeing the thing lying down on its side... nearly drove the bus off the road!! (lol, j/k)

Just out of curiousity..how tall is the EPCOT version? Did the crane remove it by sections? Must have been cool to see!

The Tower is 986 Feet High

So its about 98 Feet high at Epcot

They didnt take it down for a rehab....

Apparently someone said there were a bunch of frogs on the top and the French ripped it down to get to them....:hammer:

I looked quite a few times at the pavilion because I could tell something was missing, I just couldn't figure it out, till I looked up a little further.

While we're on the France pavilion topic, do the "Living Statues" still come out over there? I know they do in Italy but I haven't seen them in the France area for a few months.

And yeah, it was still down yesterday when I was there picking up a few things that I ordered from TT and MS.
