Efteling's Danse Macabre - re-imagining done right

So there's this park in the Netherlands called "Efteling", and it's freaking amazing. The equal, IMO, of any Disney park except Tokyo's, yet it has its own brand of magic. It had an attraction called "Spook Slot", at which guests would enter a creepy mausoleum and enter a room where a huge stage - sort of like a deep orchestra pit - would present spooky goings-on. Spook Slot was a very old but very good and popular attraction, but last year Efteling decided to plus it - and the resultant new version has been named "Danse Macabre" after the classic musical piece by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. And the result is magnificent. Just about on a par with Disney's Haunted Mansion. The queue itself is mind-blowing. And there's apparently a new technology used in the ride itself - apparently, not only do the seats spin (like Tokyo's Beauty and the Beast ride) but the floor goes up and down and tilts. The ride is set within the grounds of a decrepit abbey. Here's a video of it and the ride experience:

These are the type of flat rides that Disney (and Universal) need to do. Smaller attractions that are cheap to do and round out the park's attractions.
Disneyland has a bunch of smaller rides in Fantasyland. It helps with the crowds, especially since they're not on LL.

I was there on a capacity closure day years ago (when paper FPs still existed there) and was still able to get on things because some of these smaller rides were 30 minutes or less of a wait.

WDW specifically needs these types of rides; been saying it for years.

I agree that that Disney needs more flat rides. Here's a ride named "Christopher Columbus" from Europa Park in Germany that would be amazing if themed to The Pirates of the Caribbean:

Exactly. A highly themed flat ride that can fit it's nearby location. That's it. No need to overcomplicate with a preshow or anything else.

Die kommt lang nicht zu Disney aber sehr gut.
This is german not dutch 😭

Danse Macabre is incredible and Disney level worth for the same budget that Imagineering builds a giftshop. Efteling is incredible with the budgets that they have and I feel very fortunate to be able to call it my home park.

Both this and Villa Volta are the rides that Disney severely lack. A flat ride does not have to be boring spinner, heck I would argue that the Tower of Terror is the best themed flat ride in the world.

Fun fact; the ride starts in complete darkness. You hear the monster emerging from the middle platform before it starts walking around the room. Through the sound system and the platform that jump up and down whenever he walks it simulates the effect that he is walking around the room. It also has a story telling purpose because it rotates each of the 6 smaller platform towards the large organ against the wall (you board with all 6 pointed towards the center). The inspiration for this effect was extraterrorestrial alien encounter.
