WDW has become 66% ECV'ers, so it's not surprising that someone would try this. It's becoming a rare sight now to see people actually walking in the parks. Put the turkey legs and churros down and maybe you wouldn't be in need of a hover-round. Lazy...

Lazy and obnoxious a---es. I think WDW should somehow require a doctors note or these need to be reserved via Rx. Stupid people who don't need these ruin it for those that do. This is why we can't have nice things.

I wish Disney was able to ask for proof of need, but unfortunately they can't.

There's not much they can legally do, but maybe at the very least they could put up some signs reminding people that ECVs are meant for guests who can't enjoy the park otherwise...something to that effect. It might not do much, but it might make at least a few people think twice.

I'm having a hard time seeing the ECV riders because of all the people standing in the way, but I'm thinking 66% may be a tad on the high side?

That's because of the bacta tank VIP experience they offer during Star Wars Weekends. All the people in ECVs were restored to health by a quick dunk in bacta, and able to queue up to buy special edition merch.

That would be nice but I have the feeling that for those moronic enough to rent one when its not medically/physically necessary, would be too dense to feel bad when they read the sign (if they can read at all).

I know...like I said, it probably won't do much. But as far as what can legally be done about it, this is probably about it (unless there's something I'm not thinking about). At the very least, even if it makes a couple people a day think twice, that's makes a huge impact for people who would have otherwise been on a standby list.

Hrmmmmm. Didn't even see that experience available. Is that an extra ticketed event? Did it have a collectors edition cupcake?

Could you not see the sign from your ECV? They have to do a better job lowering the level of their signage to the heights that their majority customer are at these days. Since 2/3 of their customers use ECVs, I think all signage needs to come down 2-3 feet.
Well I'm not sure what they can do for us ECV drivers that are legally blind.

I've had to do DLR twice in a wheelchair(did not want an ECV so my husband pushed me) and it was no fun. Mainly because I had severely sprained my ankle the day before our trip and then the next year while getting out of the SUV that drove us to the GC and my husband is NOT a good wheelchair driver(I worked in hospitals, had lots of practice, just not pushing myself). It was not hideous but it was a bit more labor intensive and required a bit more planning. I really hate that young people do not realize how much those are needed for people who actually need them.

And since it was in EPCOT, that whole "drinking around the world game" causes a lot if fools to show up
Err, don't knock it til ya try it. That "drinking around the world game" is incredible, silly fun. And to see how to do it like a champ, without vomiting in a bush or cursing at strangers or hijacking EVC things, look no further than my June trip report. No handicap vehicles, children, or sober people were harmed in the making of said report.
