Eating with allergies

We might be going to Universal for our sons band trip in the spring. He has food allergies and we have only done Disney and are used to their food practices. How is Universal with food allergies? Has anyone had any experience?

The places that are good are Disney good but some places not so much. What allergies does he deal with? That may give people the info needed to steer you to the right for you places

Tree nuts are his allergies. He can have peanuts and coconut but no other nuts.

You should be fine at any place that doesn't have them featured prominently on their menu. We have different allergies and Toothsome was unhelpful to say the least but it's been several years since we've gone. The sit downs in the parks were very good(Mythos and Lombard's went above and beyond) as was Margaritaville, haven't done HR at UNI but at other locations and they were good, Cowfish is also good. IMHO go to the UNI site and check their menus to get an idea of what you want to eat. The other place that was Disney good were both Potter qs places

My husband is allergic to tree nuts and shrimp. We've never had an issue at Universal: we read the menu carefully and double-check ingredients with servers (who usually send out a chef, same as WDW).

yeah a lot of places in the Orlando sprawl even outside the parks are willing to at least try for a lot of the more common allergies, or at least give you an honest "yeah, nah, we can't swing that, sorry" if you talk before you're seated
I have an in-law who's not like "then he dies" level allergy but definitely the end of the day for him if he gets what sets him off, so we have a lot of experience with sit-down joints in Central FL
talk to places early and often, well before you're seated, so if there's going to be logistical issues you know well in advance
