I have such a hard time deciding where to eat when we go to WDW. There are so many options and I want to try it all. I love that it's not just the same old. Eating is an event and everything is themed so well. My favorite so far is the sci-fi, but I have never had a bad experience at any of the restaurants I have tried.:sohappy:

Good Eats at AK

Just wanted to share how much we enjoyed the pizza at pizzafari in Animal Kingdom, vegitarian, loaded with spinach and other good stuff. Plus you can catch some of the parade from the outdoor seating. The barbecue plate across from Tough to Be a Bug (chicken & ribs) so big my sis and I split it and still couldn't finish all! We went back many times!

I love reading these food related threads, especially just before noon! Eating really is a big part of the Disney experience. On our most recent trip we bought the Discovery Magic Package and tried to get the most use out of it by scheduling lots of meals. So much, in fact, that the Mrs commented that our trip was all centered around eating, with theme parks thrown in for good measure! :) Next trip we have agreed to get back to basics, enjoy the parks first and wherever we happen to end up is where we will eat.

BTW, my favorite meal was the salmon at Artist Point in WL. Yum.

Hey, that's almost exactly how my father-in-law said on our last trip to WDW--"so nice to go on a few rides between all these wonderful meals we scheduled."

I look at WDW much differently than other theme parks. A decade ago, aside from World Showcase, the culinary pickings and variety were slim. What I like about it now is that they've kind of went into this Club Med-ish/cruise ship mentality making meals not only part of the added fun, but potentially amazing attractions on their own.

I find it strange when someone reports on bad dining experiences, then again it's always at a place I avoided from reading the Unofficial Guides and from various web-site opinions, such as those in this posting.

My family has enjoyed character breakfastes and fine very-themed out international dining as much as we have the many rides, parades and shows. Does it add to the cost? Yep, but you're on vacation and you're gonna eat anyway and one way or another, you'll be opening your wallet. So why not get a spectacular themed out experience to go along with it?

I actually know people (as well as read posts from certain people on this very site) who dislike Epcot, claiming it's only worth a few hours time. These are the people who jump from ride to ride at light speed, then blow by all the detail. They are also the people who consider World Showcase "boring." Then I ask them the big question: "well, did you ever stop and eat anywhere?" The answer usually results in either "nope" or burgers and fries. And they never pop into a WS shop or stop to see the street performers either.

Okay, just thinking about the Morroccan feast and the pastries in Norway on our most recent trip has made me hungry again. Mmmmmm!

Our favorite two "pig out" meals at Disney were the Character breakfast at Chef Mickey's (just how many Mickey mini-waffles can you eat?) and the German Biergarten all-you-can-eat buffet. Both are reasonably priced and you will be full! Yum! :slurp: :slurp:

We packed a suitcase full of food for the room and to have as snacks at the parks. Guess what. We didn't eat ANY of it, LOL!!!! Except for the water bottles we brought, we ended up bringing everything else back home with us! This is the second trip where this happened to us, and I guess I didn't learn from the first time. Taking food for the room is silly, IMO. I won't bother doing it again. The water bottles were nice because we got a head tart on the water buying of the day, but, we STILL ended up buying water at the parks several times. The fountain water was never as cold as we would have liked, and sometimes it tasted yucky. So, we used our bottles from home for the first couple hours, and then bought more water as the day went on. I packed some crackers and things for the kids to snack on, and not once would they eat it. I stopped carrying it around after the second day. Florida is really hot and walking makes you thirsty more than hungry. Many times all the kids wanted was a cold drink and some ac to sit in. We ate a big character breakfast every morning and we werern't hungry (kids included) until well past noon (2PM usually). Then we either has PS for another sit down meal for a late lunch, or we had a snack until our PS for a sit down dinner (6:30 or 7PM usually). That meal lasted till the next morning!!!! The portions at Disney are HUGE! We never ate more than two meals, even with kids, and just had a few snacks in between. Turkey legs, Dole Whips, pretzels, fruit, ice cream, ice pops, or even just an order of fries was all we needed. Those things are cheap and taste great, so why did I pack all that food????????????

For me, there are two places to eat until you're ready to pop at the stitches... one is Cosmic Rays in the Magic Kingdom. Get the Chicken Caesar Salad and a side of fries. Don't think a salad can be filling? Think again. The other is the buffet at the Biergarten in Epcot. Meat products galore. And the Black Forest cake... :slurp: :slurp: :slurp: :hurl:

Since we usually arrive in FL and our resort around noon, we always head to the MK and to Caseys for dogs and cheese fries! I think it's one of (if not the) best value for the dollar meal in all of WDW. We, too, like the charactor breakfasts at the chrystal palace and chef mickey's. I like the earlier "caveman" reference when referring to eating turkey legs....it's the truth! I can't think of a bad food experience.
