Disneyland has also held events like this. It costs an arm and a leg but there are tons of cool, unique gifts you're given.

We are DDE members and have never heard of this. I know they open the HM up for catered events, but it is invite only and big bucks. Normally its done by a company that is holding a convention at one of the resorts.

My only other thought is maybe it is a limitied special event around holloween time?

Similar to Pirates event

I think this is close to the type of thing they are doing for the pirates event in a couple of weeks. For a certain price you get to go to dinner and you also can purchase various memorabilia. Not sure what was included versus not, but it always looked very cool. They have not done it at WDW in a few years.

My grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and vow renewal in Feb of 2000. On the last evening we surprised our friends and family with a dinner party in the Mansion. If you ever get the chance DO IT! Broom and Madame Carlotta are exquisite hosts. They always have room for one more...:D

I've heard of people renting those rooms out for wedding receptions and such. But I haven't heard of a set date in which one can pay do simply dine there.:shrug:

There's some occasion that happens annually where they open the stretch rooms and there's entertainment and all that jazz.. I worked in HM when they had the event 2 years ago and I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. However, I remember it was really exclusive and really really really expensive. They drive you into the park after hours in limos and you enter the mansion on red carpet. We (cast members) were all painted up to look like corpses.. The only thing we had to do was sit in the break room for a couple hours and then run the ride once. It was really a great night! I wish I could tell you how much it was and everything, but I'm fairly sure the event is super exclusive and not just anyone can book it.

Wow, I never heard of the HM dinner. That is such a cool idea!!:sohappy:
There is so many things there that aren't advertised, it's amazing!
I've always loved the atmosphere of that attraction, and the ability to have a dinner party there is fantastic!

So I read this and was extremley intersted as it turns out they do this at DL too during haunted holiday! At WDW it is called the annual 999 happy haunts ball it seems; it seems to be a full on event with differnt things happening each day similar to the one they are doing for POTC this coming week...
::EDIT::
As it turns out in 2003 there was another forum about just this http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=27367
