Easiest way to get to Hollywood

Hi all.

Heading to DL in September for the half marathon. We'll be spending 7 days there and we won't have a car. My wife wants to spend a day in Hollywood and see the sights. Is there a tour company that will pick us up at our hotel (Hampton Inn, Garden Grove) or should we take a cab or should I rent a car for a day.

What my wife is looking for is some time down at Hollywood & Vine where they have the shopping complex, the chinese theatre and Kodak Theatre. A tour of Beverly Hills so we can see all the famous peoples walled in homes and all the other touristy things that can be done in that area.

So what do you guys think? A cab, a rental or a tour originating from the Anaheim area?

Please help.

A bus tour from Anaheim to LA would work fine for your purposes. There are several large tour outfits that offer such services and pick up throughout the Resort District. Anaheim Tours has a big presence in the Anaheim Resort District, offers a few different tour options up to LA, and seems to be well regarded. http://www.allanaheimtours.com/

That said, for the 125+ Dollar price of a bus tour for two, you could rent a car for two days and see several of the Bajillion other interesting things in SoCal that are within a 20 to 90 minute drive of Disneyland.... San Diego, Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Griffith Observatory, The Getty or The Huntington (or any SoCal museum really), beaches, wineries, shopping, mountains, etc., etc.

Your cheapest (and most adventurous) way would be to take a Metrolink train from OC to LA Union Station. You can transfer from there to the subway that would take you all the way to Hollywood & Highland (Chinese, Kodak, El Capitan theatres and Disney Soda Fountain are all there) Numerous tours start and end in front of the Chinese.

Great suggestions. Thanks a lot.

Another question, how much should I expect to pay for a cab from LAX to my hotel near DL? I was wondering if the bus transfers were worth it or not, it would be about $50.00 for the three of us.
