Early WL Boat

I see that that the boat between WL, Ft. Wilderness, and the Contemporary is supposed to start running at 6:45am. Does anyone have any experience with this? On time? Early? Late? Non-existent until later?

I guess this wasn't running on our last visit to WL (at least per the front desk) and most of our early morning meal transportation was a nightmare that trip. :( We have a 7am at Chef Mickey's and I'm worried. I know a cab is always an option, but I feel like I shouldn't have to resort to that.

I don't want to add to your WL misery, but we once left the MK at closing to wait for the boat. We waited over an hour. This was made worse by my sister complaining about the wait, but everyone was just standing around forEVER. It was hot. We were tired. It was a bad hour (but a lovely and peaceful boat ride back to WL!)

It's the only time I took a boat at closing, so I don't know if it is typical or not.

Just a heads up.

Wow, well I hope we don't deal with much of that. We had absolutely 0 boat problems last time we stayed, with the exception of the early morning stuff. Our MK nights involve MNSSHP and EMH, so I'm hoping that will help with the evening boat crowds.

Agreed that the bus is faster...actually much faster, but the last time we stayed at WL we had horrible early morning bus service. We waited about 47 min one morning for an MK bus and about 38 min another morning for an AK bus. In hindsight, I should have either 1. just taken a cab 2. asked one of the drivers to take us to the Contemporary since they'll usually do resort to resort for early morning character meals.

Hmmmm...wondering if we need to switch to 7:15 at Chef Mickey's. If the boat is at WL at 6:45a and Ft. Wilderness at 7...I'm guessing we'll be getting to the Contemporary closer to 7:15a. Decisions...

The sign for the larger red flag boats to MK say 1/2 hr before MK opens. So, that's 8:30 on an avg morning, which won't work. The smaller blue flag boats say 6:45a. While it's for Ft Wilderness and the Contemporary...I figure it might be an alternative to the bus. Sure, you get dropped off at the dock on the Bay Lake side- which makes it more of a walk (vs getting the bus )- but after our bus issues...I'd be willing to try it. When we stayed in the garden wing of the Contemporary back in 2011, our room was in the section right near the water and we weren't bothered by the walk from there to MK, so I figure the dock to MK can't be too different.

Another fairly contrived idea I've been working on :D ---we had early character meals at the GF and the Poly. We just approached the first bus we saw (I think in both cases, they were buses heading to AK) and asked them if they could drop us off for our meal. They said no problem. So, asking to be dropped off at any of the monorail resorts for an early character meal "should" work. If they'll do it for the Contemporary...that's a quick walk into MK, and obviously with the Poly or GF- it's a trip on the monorail. Either way- it's another alternative.

I didn't even think about taking the boat to Contemporary and walking...we love the walk to MK from the Contemporary. Thanks for the reminder.
