dont show up till after 11?
To be fair, Epcot entrance was a cluster this morning at both entrances. We were stuck in line at the IG beyond 10:30 because they weren't letting anyone in. Judging by the fact they were holding a very long line and letting no one in at 3pm at the main entrance, it didn't get better.

Epcot this morning was mayhem, the whole process is the most stupid move they have ever made, people were not happy. They are withholding mass crowds outside in the sun nowhere to sit, cast members stressed with complaints, incompetent management on hand, just horrible. I hope guest relations got deluged I have never seen it so bad. So no one can get in the park anymore till 11 on the dot. The public is not allowed in period, only hotel guests. So now even with a park reserve your kept out, why bother at all anymore, my family was outraged. Whos bright idea was this??

Sounds like it worked as a perk for resort guests?

Did you enter from the main entrance or IG?
Main gate. Like I said we got there at 10:20. No cluster. No mayhem. Very easy. I did hear one CM say there was an issue and pulled someone over to the side but then they quickly let them go. We went to the left under spaceship earth and got in the attraction line. Happy with the experience.
There was a roped off area for guest not at Disney resorts. They were in the sun and packed together.

I apologize I know this has been answered and I’m just getting lazy here.

I’m a deluxe guest with an annual pass.

Evening magic hours or whatever they are called now are at MK.

Do I need a park reservation for Mk that day to participate?

"Guests will need valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same park on the same day to experience extended evening hours–or, Guests may experience extended evening hours if they have a ticket or annual pass with the Park Hopper option and first enter the park where they made their reservation."

They didn’t let you in until the posted park open time?! How dare they?!

You could always stay at a participating resort. Universal spoils on-site guests. Even Hersheypark spoils on-site guests. It’s kinda a thing.

Yeah...

I think the new system is kind of a joke, mainly because I think 30 minutes is an insultingly small window. But if they're going to let non-resort guests into the park before opening time, that defeats the purpose of having the perk at all. Of course you're not going to be let into the park early if you're off-site.

Somewhere here I anticipated this happening, though -- that the short window would result in a bunch of overlap between resort and non-resort guests all there waiting to get in at the same time and create massive headaches. When it was an hour (or longer) you'd have far fewer off-site guests there when the window opened.

Got it thanks.

If evening hours are at MK and I have hopper, I just need to show up to whatever park I originally made a reservation for and scan in.

I am an onsite guest and myself and hundreds of other people were not let in at the correct time at the IG.
I understand that. That’s not what the other poster was complaining about. I’m sure they will sort out the IG issues. It was day 1 of a soft opening. Silver lining, any time you had was more than you expected 3 days ago before they announced this.

Thank goodness they did a soft opening instead of waiting until 10/1.

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up upping this to an hour because of logistical issues with 30 min.

Same. DAK was already longer than 30 min today. At a minimum, don’t have a rope drop and let guests be at their ride of choice when it starts running 30 min before open. It honestly looks more exclusive to the off-site guests to see early entry guests strolling into the parks rather than standing in another mob.

I think they might extend to start letting people in/on rides a bit earlier than the 30 minutes (so maybe 45-60minutes before official park opening) over time but keep the "official" starting time of the perk as 30min. That way they can be flexible if they start it 30 min on the dot some days and still being doing what they advertised.
