Sorry if this should be on the trip planning board.

OK, we are staying at the Dolphin and need to be at the MK by 8:15 for our Keys to the Kingdom tour. (It isn't an early open day) Is there a bus that runs early enough?

I assume there is, but what do I do if not?

If I were you I would plan on taking a cab. When I did the tour, they told me at the time of making reservations to find another source of transportation.

The cab will drop you off at the TTC. Take the cab to the Contemporary and it's just a short stroll to the Main gate.

Walking from Contemp to MK

Is it really a short stroll?

This will be early and my fiance will be grumpy if it is a hike, also how much is the cab usually?

Yes, it really IS a short stroll to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary, but I'll bet you won't even have to walk. The monorail will probably be running to the MK by the time your cab gets you to the Contemporary. I can't help you with cab price info, though - sorry. Any one else???

Have a great time!

I would imagine the cab won't be too expensive I mean its relatively a short drive...then again the cab could drive in circles in wdw so stay on the look out....:animwink:

Have fun on the tour!!!!

The busses begin running early in order to take guests to the character breakfasts located in the Magic Kingdom area. The monorail begins running at 7 am. If you would like to take WDW busses, I would recommend being at your hotels bus stop 1 hour prior to your start time of 8:15. Take the bus that says Magic Kingdom on the Marquee on the fron of it. It will most likely drop you off at the Ticket and Transportation Center. From there you will board the resort Monorail to arrive at the Magic Kingdom Park.

If you choose to take a taxi, I would plan on contacting the taxi company about an hour before your scheduled tour. They will drop you off at the Ticket Center and you will still need to transfer to the Monorail to get to the Kingdom. The cab ride will run you in the neighborhood of 12 to 15 Dollars including the tip.

Some people on this website call a walk from TTC to the Polynesian a "short stroll". Others call a walk from the Swan and Dolphin to Epcot's International Gateway a "short stroll". Always be careful when people give this answer when asking for walking distances.

Assuming the cab drops you off at the front door at the Contemporary, you can expect about a 10-15 minute walk at a normal pace (around 4-6 mph). It's a relatively easy walk to the Magic Kingdom, and a sidewalk will take you all the way there. Also, the ground is quite flat, so there's no hill climbing to worry about. As long as you and your fiance are ready for the walk then it shouldn't be a problem at all.

The best thing to do is go ahead and call WDW to see how early the monorail and/or ferry boat will be operating that day. If they're operating then just take the cab to the TTC and use WDW transportation to the MK. Otherwise just take the cab to the Contemp and be ready for the walk.

Ummmmm....:veryconfu

Call me crazy, but your HOTEL should be making these arrangements for you!

If you need to be somewhere, they should have a driverand avan availble to take you there.

I know for a fact that if you want to go play Mini Golf or go to the Richard Petty Race Experience, Disney will pick you up and take you there!

Talk to the Hotel before you stress out about it.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Just take a bus in the morning. They have them running for guests who have Early morning breakfast at the Contemporary or Magic Kingdom.

Buses start running to the Magic Kingdom directly at 7:00am. They will drop off at the MK itself, and not the TTC.

Thanks Tyler. Not a morning person here. The one morning shift I ever worked for Magic Kingdom was 3 years ago and a lot has changed since then. Not to mention, I am not a morning person so the whole thing is additionally foggy.

LOL, it's all good.

Actually, I saw something strange. I was in at 530am for a special assignment, and I saw drivers coming in with 6:30am MK runs. So, I guess the buses might run even earlier... I'll still say 7:00 anyways.

Thats probalby the regular start time. It takes 15 mins to walk from Westgate to Eastgate and then you have 15 mins to pretrip your bus. Another few mins to get moving. LOL, we are up to between 7 and 7:15 and the busses are just hitting the roads. :-)

See, this is what I don't get. He comes in (bidline) at 5:30am. His first run is at 6:30. (Leaves TTC at 6:15)

I come in at 7:00 usually... my first run is 7:30 (leave TTC at 7:15). I get 15 minutes to pre-trip my bus, he gets 45. What gives?

Oh well. 8 more hours of purple pants for me. :) I pre-tripped my last bus today... well, my last two buses, since the first one failed it's pretrip when the mirror came off in my hand. Brand new bus, too.

There are many things that make no sense. LOL, like the new bid line posting. What happened ot all the 30 hour bid lines that turn into 40 to 50 hours during the busy times. Its no wonder they have trouble getting enough people to fill in the extra hours when it is peak season. They have to have enough people in the pool to fill the the non bild line shifts and then when its gets busy overtime goes nuts trying to fill in all those hours that used to be parts of bidlines.
