The dismissal of early entry days is MOST DEFINITELY only another cutback. The only thing that they don't realize is that the only result will be a continued cutback in their attendance both at the parks and especially at their high priced resorts! This 26 yo kid always took advantage of the EE days. I agree that I don't want to see more hour long lines for characters to greet my morning. I would rather greet the morning with small lines at attractions. And just for everyone's sake, EE days were always full of the biggest DISNEY fans, staying at DISNEY owned resorts, waiting to get a jump start on spending more dollars on DISNEY merchandise! Disney has once again missed the boat with this decision. This decision is bad for the following reasons(heck it's down right disastrous!):
1. THIS WAS A BENEFIT THAT PEOPLE WHO SPENT MORE MONEY BY STAYING AT A DISNEY RESORT LOVE AND NOW EXPECT! THIS MADE IT WORTH STAYING AT THEIR RESORTS. NOW FEWER PEOPLE WILL STAY AT THEIR RESORTS CAUSING A NEED FOR FURTHER BUDGET CUTS.
2. THIS WILL CAUSE THE LINES AT THE PARKS TO BECOME EVEN LONGER THROUGHOUT THE DAY. BY OPENING EARLY, DISNEY WAS ABLE TO FUNNEL SOME GUESTS THROUGH THE RIDES TO REDUCE THE LINE WAITS LATER (WHICH WE ALL KNOW CAN BECOME ATROCIOUS BY THE AFTERNOON)! THIS WILL LEAD TO GREATER REDUCTIONS IN VISITORS WHO CAN NOT STAND TO WAIT 1 AND 1/2 HOURS FOR A 2 MINUTE DUMBO OR ALADDIN RIDE! FEWER VISITORS MEANS LESS REVENUES WHICH = MORE BUDGET CUTS.
3. PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF ALSO ENJOYED THE SHOPS NOT BEING SO CROWDED IN THE MORNING AND SHELLED OUT THE CASH AT THAT TIME TO AVOID THE OVERCROWDED STORES LATER.
4. ONCE WE DISNEY FANS HAVE HAD A BITE OF THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT, WE WANT IT FOREVER AND MOST DECIDEDLY GET UPSET AT ITS DENIAL. IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR DISNEY TO UPSET ITS MOST LOYAL FANS AND CASH DONORS(aka CUSTOMERS OR VISITORS)
In the end it comes down to this those who make such extreme cuts are pulling carpet right out from under themselves. The oldest business maxim is still the best one: IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY! Hopefully these latest events will signal the end of Eisner and the borad but not the independence of the Disney corporation!
