Hey cutey...

Ok, well, when the WDW first opened, they sold TICKETS for attractions...each attraction had a letter associated to it depending on it's popularity/thrill factor. 'E' Tickets were designated to the most popular/thrilling...so that's where we get E-ride night... (others say that E-ride means Exciting Ride)

For example...
an A ticket may have been for Cinderella's Golden Carousel.
a B ticket may have been for the skyride
C for Snow White...

etc.

Hope it helps :)

F-ride

Does this mean that Mission:Space is going to be an "F-ride"?
Or does the scale stop at E?

So when the Magic Kingdom first opened, it was like a carnival? People had to purchase tickets to individual attractions? I thought that Walt was trying to avoid that whole idea in the first place...?

mmmmmmmm, thats not quite accurate....

The ticket system was based on cost. An "A" ticket was like 10 cents... while a "B" ticket was 20 cents. "E" being the most expensive. It was exactly like a carnival. They even had booths in the park selling extra tickets.

The Rocket Jets, may be popular and thrilling, but they were only a "C" ticket.

"E" tickets were usually longer/more expensive rides. POTC, HM, SM, were all E tickets.

In todays terms it means "a wild/exciting ride"

By giving them letters... you wern't so concerened with how much your ride cost, and just enjoyed yourself.
