Dynamic pricing at Starbucks?

Indeed it was a big sponser during the televised Easter and Christmas parades..Well, that and the old Big Red Boat..
Was the Big Red Boat owned by Disney? I faintly remember it being Disney oriented when I went on it 30ish years ago as a 6 year old.

You are paying for the name not the actual product and foolish people fall for it. Never had Starbucks and never will
The Dolphin Hotel gives you Starbucks K-cups, which was my first experience with the brand. It was good, but for me, no better than the McDonald's coffee I sometimes grab on the way to work for 99 cents.

Still, variety is the spice of life, and if Disney economics has taught me anything, it's that many folks embrace the notion that spending more means you automatically get something worthy in return (even when you don't).

I have friends who swear that Starbucks is the best coffee out there: coincidentally, they're mainly the same friends who swear that a $20 bottle of pink moscato (!) is the best wine. At the end of the day, people will buy what they want to buy and drink what they want to drink. 🤷‍♀️

I'm not much of a coffee person, but I do like Starbucks, also went to the Starbucks Reserve in Seattle a few months ago and prob had the best cold brew ever, quite the treat. But I understand it's not for everyone.
I gave Starbucks a try at EPCOT once and it was of course over priced and it taste burnt to me.

You are totally correct. Like Disney movies, Starbucks coffee is not for everyone. I am feeling the "not made for me" more and more for a lot of stuff besides movies and coffee.

That's OK. That's life.

I've had it. Not at all impressed.

I don't get the fascination.

What demographic are they trying to appeal to anyway?

Starbucks is not for coffee. Starbucks is for coffee drinks (and non-coffee drinks).

Very few people go to Starbucks and order a coffee. I am one of those few. Why? Because while we have free coffee in our building, it is HORRENDOUS. We also have a Starbucks in our HQ (as well as a Dunkin). So on the days I am in the office it is either drink the really bad free stuff or get an overpriced coffee at Starbucks. 99% of the other employees that are there are ordering some sort of latte, frap, freeze, flavored something, or something similar. That is why people go to Starbucks.

If I am not in the office, I very rarely find myself at Starbucks. I make coffee at home, or at Wawa, or 7-11, or the local cafe.

Are you sure one time was with AP discount and another time wasn't?
It is likely not AP related based on what I know about Starbucks.

I have an understanding how Starbucks is run based on people that I know. Those people not bus drivers.

Those people work at a hospital in the food service department and that hospital has a Starbucks inside. According to those people, Starbucks is a franchise and since the Starbucks is located in the hospital, the hospital runs it. The Hospital is responsible for handling pricing.

What I said about the hospital running Starbucks also is true with Disney running Starbucks. That means Disney can change prices due to when in the day the item is ordered or if there is temperature change.

I seriously doubt there is demand-based pricing throughout the day at Disney Starbucks, maybe day to day or season to season. More likely someone put the order in a different way or didn't charge for some add-ons one of the times.

Being from Seattle, the water is what makes Seattle coffee the best. Not a fan of Starbucks in general. Some of the best coffe I’ve had are from little coffee shack drive thrus. Again, water makes all the difference. I do have on my bucket list to visit the Starbucks in Milan.

I've found Starbucks' pricing to completely change based off whoever is ringing up the order no matter where you are.
Yeah I'm guessing it has to do with the way the order was entered in the POS system. Maybe something like:

$5.75 - Peppermint Hot Chocolate

versus

$5.50 - Hot Chocolate
+$0.25 - Add Peppermint Shot
+$0.25 - Add Peppermint Shot
