DVD Disks Problems

Hi. I have a question.
I wanted to put some of Martin's videos and others onto a DVD so I could enjoy them on my TV at home. I've been using these Verbatim DVD+R disks that have up to 16x speed, 4.7 GB/Go Data and 120 min video.

The problem I've been having is that once I play them a few times in our DVD player, it will slowely start to become static, and then start skipping and freezeing up. After that happens, you can't watch it anymore because of how messed up it is.

I think the disks are the problem because I've tried so many other things, that I think I may just have to get new disks... Anyone recommend any or have a slight clue of what's wrong from what I've just described here?

Thank you VERY much for anyone who can help me!!!:o

Edit: Sorry, but I had one last question I thought I would throw in here...
Would anyone recommend using the Convert X to DVD program to put video files onto DVD's?

Again, thanks so much for all who can help!!

My work on DVD.... shucks!

I never burn at full speed; if a disc will handle 16x I`d go for 8 or 12x.

I also bought Convert X to DVD - rubbish. For WMVs it has made a real mess of at least half of what I tried when I tried to burn as a DVD. Shame.

Another thing I've found that if a disc isn't balanced perfectly, it will tend to skip towards the end. I don't make disc labels on paper anymore for this reason. I also only try to use about 85-90 percent of what the disc CAN hold.

Thank you for your review of Convert X to DVD. I hadn't looked into it that much, and didn't know it cost something!! Actually, someone on a different site recommended it to me...

Why do you frown upon your work on DVD? It's amazing, and me and my friends & family really enjoy them. I would just like to put them on DVD so I could watch them from our living room or bring them to my friends house. I'm very respective of your hard work you've put into these and didn't mean to cause you any worry.

And Fievel, I have tried using those paper DVD disk lables on various different DVD's, and I think that may also be a big issue like you stated. Yet when I make CD's, they seem to work fine.

Verbatims could be a large part of your problem. I've found they don't work on as many machines as some of the other disks. Try to stick with better brands like TDK. And as the other poster said, don't put stickers on them. If you want labels a marker works great or go with the lightscribe.
