My family and I are seriously considering becoming a DVC member. Is anyone a member that would be kind enough to email me so we can chat and I could ask you a few questions. We normally go every other year to WDW and I need to know whether this will be a good investment......

Hi car4911, we joined DVC in 2002 and we love it. I am so glad we did it. It is a big investment at 1st, but after that it is very painless. I only wish I had bought more points (we have 170 at VWL). Personally I also wish we had bought at BCV because we love that place.

We wish we would of bought in sooner. If you are a return WDW visiter DVC is great. After staying in a DVC room, you don't want a normal hotel room again, it is just so convenent.

When we were looking into it (and even now) I found the forem at www.disboards for DVC very helpful, it has over 1,000 DVC members on it (we have around 20 or so here at Magic, but that number is always growning. )

Feel free to pm me.

Went to Disney first time in sept of 99 enjoyed so much we bought into
dvc on the spot at boardwalk. Ther was absolutely no pressure
at all from our club guide he was shocked when we said yes right
away. We have been twice so far and i know that with the accom-
adations we use it has already paid for itself. Hope this little bit of
info help,s you with decision. If you do decide to join you won't
regret it.

The one thing that keeps me from buying into DVC is the yearly fee. The fee is around $4 a point (it varies depending on your home resort). For 200 points, that comes out to $800 a year. I just reserved 5 nights at Port Orleans - Riverside for $750.
On the other hand, if you go every other year, you can rent your off year points to other members to cover your fee.
Disboards is the best place for DVC info. Also, www.dvcresale.com sells DVC memberships. You can get sold out resorts here and for less money per point.

We've been going to Disney every year for about ten years, and finally bought into the vacation club in 2002. It's a huge investment at first and it's a big decision to make, but it is sooo worth it, I can't even describe it. It pays for itself within the first year, especially when you go every year or every other year. And if you decide you don't want to go to Disney one year, you can use points at tons of other hotels around the world! Once you stay at a villa, you can never go back to a regular hotel room.

For me, DVC paid for itself on our first trip to the Beach Club Villas, our home resort. Every year we would crowd to find a spot to watch Illuminations in Epcot, then fight the crowds all the way back to Future World and out to the buses. It took hours. That year, we watched Illuminations from our balcony overlooking the Epcot ball. Not only did we have a better view than we would have had in the park, but we could even hear the music and people cheering! Then when it was over and everyone else started heading for the exits, I jumped into my jacuzzi...it was heaven on earth at the best place on earth!!! :sohappy:

I couldn't agree with you more. We LOVE BCV. We haven't stayed at our home resort yet (next trip only 4 weeks away!) You have a lot of flexiblity of where you can stay too. (but we love BCV, did I mention that?)

I am really glad we joined DVC, I only wish we had more points.

artvandelay, our dues are 50$ a month, 600 a year. We pay that much for our cable or cell phone bills, not bad for a vacation at deluxe WDW resort in a great room (better then normal.)

Yes the dues do fluctuate every year with alot of things playing
a role in them .Like taxes, what kind of upgrades are going on at
your particulare home resort and their forth. FEE,s and all it is still
a great thing to have.

DisneyPHD, does that fee fluctuate year to year?

I think there is some room for flucations on dues, but I know there is is limit on how much it can. I don't belive it happens too often, and when it does they make kinda a big deal about it. It does need to go up some over the years for inflation, but it will not be a radical jump. I am not an expert on this, but I don't think they have gone up too much so far. Someone at OKW migth know since it is the oldest resort. Also some resorts have higher dues then others.
