DVC Tour

My brother and I are giving serious consideration to buying into DVC later this year. Chances are good that we would buy resale (though BLT is a possibility if we determine its worth the premium).

We'll be taking our next trip down the first week in June and were wondering if they do tours of the DVC facilities if you stop by those booths in the parks? If so do they tend to take you to the closest DVC (i.e. if we stop in DHS, they'll take us over to Boardwalk) or do they take us to the ones for sale (such as BLT)?

Has anyone taken a tour or stopped for information before? Did they think it was worth it? Overall we consider ourselves fairly well informed after getting our initial packet and keeping up with the threads here on the boards.

Thanks in advance!

The sales center is at Saratoga Springs. That's where they will take you to tour. I believe they currently have model rooms of Aulani (Hawaii) and Animal Kingdom Villas there. And a Saratoga Springs room can be shown as well.

There is a BWV model room down on the BoardWalk near Big River Grille. That's strictly for walk-in tours. They won't drive you over to the BW but if you make your way over there you can stop in and look around.

Those are the only locations where tours are offered. If you visit another resort and inquire at the front desk, most resorts will informally show you a room that is vacant. But it depends upon availability of a vacant (and clean) room, and they need to be able to spare a Cast Member at the front desk to escort you to the room.

DVC will schedule a tour with you at the Kiosk.

They will pick a time that works for you. Pick you up in a DVC van at that time at your resort (or I guess any other on-property location), tour you around SSR, and then drive you to wherever you want to go on property.

And then, to make up for the vacation time "lost" by touring the property instead of the parks, they may opt to give you a couple of "valid anywhere" Fastpasses.

We spent a rainy day at CR and the guide that toured us brought us into a model room at BLT. We had our sales presentation in a model room there, there was a video set up on the TV and a fridge stocked with drinks. So you can add that to your list. This was last June, and may have changed since. Then we toured SSR where we signed our contract.

You can buy at Bay Lake Tower through resale, if your comment above refers to having to buy it through Disney.

As a general rule of thumb, DVC will offer tours and sessions at the resorts that they are still actively trying to sell. Once they sell out at a resort, they don't have any need or benefit to keeping those rooms tied up in that manner. But SSR is still where they have their main sales area.

Thanks for the replies all. We're almost definitely buying in on the resale market, and are actually considering BWV for a home resort. Since we'll be staying there in June, maybe we'll just stop by the model room rather than head over to SSR which we aren't interested in.
