we thought and thought and thought about it but the one thing that always kept me from buying a dvc was the monthly dues, that bugs me, I don't want to pay dues to something every month that I only stay in once a year.

Thanks Joe and no problem...I will definitely check again on the maximum number of guests, but the DVC rep at SSR told us that 5 would be fine, as long as it fit our needs. All of our kids are young now, so it may not work in the future.
We just purchased our DVC and what we were told is that while Disney recommends a certain number of people based on unit size there are no "DVC police" patrolling to make sure you don't have more. (unless of course you are creating a disturbance.) It's just their recommendation based on what will be the most comfortable. You are free to add a 5th person if you don't mind being a bit cramped. They suggested an airbed or even a sleeping bag for your additional guest. I don't think anything bigger than twin would fit easily.
We had 10 people in a 2-BR (4 were under 7 years old) at OKW in October, and Disney knew. The only thing they said is that they won't supply any extra linens, towels, etc.
Imagine paying only your annual dues, say, $1200 (ours are currently about $900), and being able to stay at WDW for 2 weeks every year. Does that seem worth it? Keep in mind, once you pay off your initial investment, you only pay dues for the remainder of your DVC interest (2042, 2052, etc., whenever your interest 'expires'). The "monthly dues" are only monthly if you choose to pay your annual dues on a monthly basis instead of once per year.
