DVC news and information

Just got back from a 5 day trip to the world and I have some information on the Disney Vacation Club that may or may not be known.

We have been considering buying into the club for several years and decided to take the tour this time. Our guide informed us that Disney is actively working on 4 new developments at this time. The AKL Villas and the one at Disneyland are out in the open, the rumored Contemporary tower (more on this later), and he also mentioned an off property location will be announced in the near future. No exact word on where, but it was hinted that it could be Hawaii, Colorado, Chicago, or even New York. Obviously he was very vague, but I did not get the feeling he was just leading me on.

When it was time to get a look at the models of the AKL villas, which are located at Saratoga Springs resort, I made the very fortunate mistake of wandering about while my wife and guide were discussing the accomodations. In the same hallway that leads to the models for AKL is an unmarked door that I happened to open out of curiosity. To my surprise, located behind it was what appeared to be models for the Contemporary towers DVC rooms. Unfortunately I did not have my camera but they did look very stunning. Maybe someone else can make the mistake and open the mystery door before the locks go on and get a picture!!

Not sure why you would expect this to be deleted, just reporting what I saw, no illegal action was taken. A simple mistake of opening an unmarked door. And of what I was told, it is simply a rumor, nothing more. Oh well.

On a side note, apparently there are three DVC kiosks that will lead you to backstage areas for the start of your tour. We happened to stop at the one in Dinoland at AK. Our van picked us up behind primeval whirl and did a full lap behind E:E, Kali, and the Safari ride before exiting the park. Very neat to see back stage without paying for a tour!

None of the regional properties are going to be DVC, at least in the ones that are past the blue sky stage.

I'm sure they'll allow you to use DVC points to stay there, but they will be regular resorts.

*Waits for this thread to be deleted:wave:*
I agree totally, deleting the thread is the only reasonable course of action -- for sure!!!

I thought that model rooms were only set up when Disney was ready to sell a property (like AKL). Why would the supposed Contemporary development have models ready already??

I'm still unclear as to how this room was determined to be a DVC Contemporary room. No details were provided. How 'bout it tim?

While it is the nature of wdwmagic to be skeptical of everything and everyone, I've read at least one other report of someone stumbling onto this room, and believing it was in the style one might expect from CR. It was either at mouseowners, or maybe the DVC section of disboards. Someone on that board posted directions for finding the room, after which others who toured in the next week or so mentioned that a CM had been stationed in that hallway, keeping the lookie-loos away from the Secret Chamber

So, either that's one of the better coordinated hoaxes I've seen on a discussion board in some time, or that room probably exists. Whether it's just a mock-up, or what, well, no one knows.

If they are already building the CR DVC Tower it would make sense that the model room is ready to go too. Out in DL the Grand CA is being finished right as the early stages of construction on the real rooms have begun.

I guess I should clarify that what I saw behind the "secret door" was a hallway that was styled as the new resort will look. I have no doubt in my mind that it was for the new Contemporary DVC. There were two doors in the hallway that looked exactly like room doors with key card locks and room numbers. Very modern looking. Unfortunately those were locked, but judging from the finished appearance of the hallway, the rooms must be done as well.

As for the naysayers, I could care less if you believe me or not, I have been a member and daily reader of these boards for almost seven years and always get a chuckle out of the immediate credibility bashing that comes from some of the "rumors" that are posted. I am only reporting on what I saw. What I was told by the cast member is another matter and that is why I stated that as only a rumor.

Good day to all!
