Ugh! Just checked it out...how long do you think it will take to get the 'bugs' worked out? I am having a hard time with the AP site, and the CM I talked to yesterday (because I was very unsuccessful trying to book a room online with our AP's for a weekend trip) chuckled and said, "Well, that's the million-dollar question right now! I am afraid to say that I don't have my magic ball in front of me, because it was taken to the Haunted Mansion and put on display. Man, I really wish I could get it back!";)

I just looked and really don't like it. I thought I had the wrong site at first because it looks just like the regular Disney site. I'm not impressed and don't think it has the pizazz it should. Other than the homepage, it is relatively the same. One thing I was hoping it would have was an area to purchase DVC merchandise...oh well.

What do you mean the AP site? I bought the PAP promotion last month and was not told of an AP site. What does it do that is different? Am I not privy to it because I haven't activated it yet? Sorry for all the questions. I have never been an AP holder before but this promotion was too good to pass up. Thanks.

Prior to all these site changes, the AP site was easier to navigate, and then...well, let's hope for the best! Like the DVC site, it has information pertaining to perks and a special page to book a resort room using your AP. That's all.

To access it, you have 2 ways (either way, you have to have a Disney site account...it's free):

1. www.disneyworld.com/annualpass However, this method is very troublesome: the site is experiencing tons of issues (didn't before the change-up)

2. www.disneyworld.com -> My Disney Experience tab -> Annual Passholders. If you try to click on anything on this page, and you haven't 'signed in' yet, you'll be prompted to do so.

Let me forewarn you, if you're trying to book a room using your AP's, as of right now, you're better off calling the AP phone line. I guess Disney is trying to bring back the one-on-one interaction...at least that's what I'm getting from all the Disney site changes:rolleyes:

Oh, we too bought PAP's...for the price, for once, we couldn't pass it up either!

Thanks for letting us know. I dropped by to check it out. It's certainly going to take some getting used to. My next 2 vacations were correct, and came right up on the home page. That's something I guess....

o_O Me too. I was just going to show off the new site to DW and got.

Down For Maintenance

We're sorry. Our systems are unavailable at this time as we are performing maintenance. Please try again later.

@Trotsky, I guess this manager has a future at the Test Track pavilion. :D

I don't think anyone takes a site down for "maintenance" during business hours, do they? I'm sure they had that message up because they think it sounds better than "sorry, we broke our website".

It's working now, though. It's very bright.

And even when they do take it down for maintenance, they do not take the entire site down. The vairous pages would still be active, the back end DB would just be off line. You could get in an look at pretty pictures, but not do any "real" work. My guess is there was some unforseen problem and it needed to be taken off line for a while. You try to avoid having that happen. You do all the necessary User Acceptance Testing and try and break the systems before it goes live. However, as many can tell you, no matter how much UAT you do, in teh end some user is going to find a way to do something you never thought they would.

Also, you cannot place all system problems on the IT / CIO staff's heads. I am working on a major system cut right now myself (not my first either) and there are parts of it that will not be how we want them to be. However other forces have stated that the system will go live on a specific date. Somtimes half completed systems are released even though the IT folk don't want them to be. In a corporation the size of TDC there are many forces at work behind the scenes.

Oh, I wasn't faulting the IT people. I work with our IT people and have been responsible for our website (well, I suppose "answerable" is actually the correct term) and have known the sheer panic of hearing "the website's down". I was poking fun at the disingenuity of "maintenance" instead of the (likely) more honest "we're having technical difficulties"

I got ya. I was more responding to Trotsky's comment about how they must now have a good CIO.

Totally agree. This was certainly a "splash page" that is thrown up when something has gone wrong.

@Trotsky - The CIO is certainly doing something right. The site is a huge improvement. It's no surprise that there was a small outage early on in the release. The timing was humorous though.

They are still working on the site. I'm hoping that as DVC members we will get the added convenience of all of the My Disney Experience features directly thru the site. A true one stop shop would be great!
