DVC Member Annual Passes.

Do any DVC members know the answer to this.

If we purchase a voucher for an annual pass, my understanding is now we only have 1 year to “activate” it is that correct?

What happens if we don’t activate it within a year of purchase, do we just pay any difference in cost at that time?

If not activated in one year, the price paid can be applied to a new AP purchase (if sales of new APs are available at that time).

If renewals are still open but new sales are not I wonder now that applies to this
Renewals go active automatically on the date your current AP expires if bought prior to the current AP expiring. And you can even use them for park reservations prior to it being "active" since it is in your DME app.

But if you renew, which I had to for the first time on February 26, 2023, due to no AP and no allowance outside of the renewal window, DVC said that still expires Jan, 27, 2024. That is one day before we leave Disney. So, I will now absolutely need to buy for 2025 while on sale.

In this situation I think they'd let you pay the difference. The only choices are "give money back" and "let them pay more and they'll come into the parks and spend even more." They'd figure out how to make it work.

If you think you'd use that AP then sure, but you could also buy a one day ticket or just avoid the parks that last day. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, renewals expire on the same date as your current AP, regardless of when you renew. You would have to buy a new AP to change the date.

Thanks, that is my plan. However, it was posted earlier that the vouchers now expire in 365 days, so that AP would expire on 4/13/24. Vouchers did not expire in the past. We would not be going until February, 2025. I just cannot take the chance that they stop selling yet again.

True. The 1 year activation limit is a recent change.

Technically the day after. In 2021 I had a new AP - after my 2020 renewal was changed due to closure and June 4th was my date. For 2022-2023 it was June 5th. Just renewed yesterday and now 2023-2024 will be June 6th start date. But yes otherwise you need new to change the date.

I remember the 1 yr first popped up for that $399 deal. But I think since covid it's been regularly 1 yr for the new. Probably because people were hoarding new AP renewals that were good until 2030 or something like that. But even with the 1 yr, people won't lose money. They'll pay more for the new. Creates a FOMO though.

Thanks. With this scenario, I will attempt to cancel the renewal for a refund, change my reservation dates and buy the AP to use 2024 and 2025.

Nope.... former DVC owner - WDW abandoned.
We will put that $12K/year plus to work for our home, and our children's homes, rather than funneling cash into a woke broken down area, that is filthy, with no staff, and no maintenance. You should do as you wish...

Us? Getting our dear 2nd Son a solid GENERAC, for his home :).

At the risk of being baited, can I ask why you still visit this website?

I believe they actually did announce this in the email to members (but fell short of guaranteeing it). But, the plan (as it was explained to me) is to continue selling DVC Sorcerer pass to blue card holders even through future AP sales pauses.
They did say that it will be available at times when it isn't to the regular public without guaranteeing how much. Still I expect a huge rush on the 13th for sales.
