I mean really? Why must there be so many of these in the parks? Yes it's to sell you a timeshare but, having to put so many booths in parks just to sell it really ruins it for me..And none so more when they decided to make Triton's Treasures a Booth rather than a store...Do these booths really get any guests at the park to buy a DVC Membership? I always see them empty and the CM just seems so bored...

AGREE!!!!!!

Sorry for the caps, but I feel quite strongly about this. I HATE those darn booths. I get the point, trying to create awareness, not necessarily get someone to drop 15k on a time share on the way from Space Mountain to Buzz. But I hate them just the same.

The folks at Disney DVC do know how to hound people! We've never gone near a booth, but one time a couple of years ago I called DVC (not because we had any interest in joining, but I was looking for some general information on the villas themselves as we were considering renting points or booking one directly). I've been inundated ever since with promotional materials and phone calls, attempting to get us to buy in. We've done the math, and it's been a big "no, thank you" every time, but they don't quit!

Now I'm just praying they don't put this information on our MagicBands -- can you imagine getting pounced on every time you walk by a DVC kiosk because the CM gets an "alarm" that a potentially-DVC-interested guest is walking by?:eek::greedy:

Interestingly, that isn't true. The majority of complaints have more to do with the fact that EVERY store sells the same generic crap.

Really because I see people mention all the time that disney loves to put stores at the end of rides for various reasons. (on this forum, someone had mentioned that they felt Disney does that to force you into stores with your children so that kids will see things they like and beg their parents for them.)
Don't shoot the messenger but I do hear people complain about that all the time.

But there is also praise for the shops that fit into the experience and offer something not available at every other store. There is also more of a critique of encroachment of merchandise onto the exit pathway that blocks the flow of traffic.

I honestly don't see that all the time. Can you point to a couple examples? Most of the complaints I see center on the lack of adherence to theme in the shops.

There is a forum on here entitled "exit through the gift shop" and a few people mention disliking stores at the end of rides for all kinds of reasons from crowding, feeling rushed, or that they don't want to buy things at the end of a ride and get stuck carrying it around. Also there's a couple blogs who talk about shops at the end of rides.

But you're talking to me  I don't mind the shops. I like the merch. I don't think I've ever walked through a ride exit gift shop without looking around

Those are rides with exits to stores...

Oh, yeah, but I wasn't saying gift shops at exits didn't exist. Just that I don't see people complaining specifically that they are there. The complaints seem to be centered around issues with the stores, not with their locations.
