DVC Annual Pass Discount

Hi all,

We leave soon for our trip to the world, and this time we decided to get annual passes. We also have the Dining Package for the first couple days of our trip (paying for the room out of pocket), and they told us that even though we intended to purchase annual passes, we had to at least purchase a one day ticket to receive the DP.
Now, my question is, can I purchase the annual passes at the front desk during check in and still receive my DVC discount, or do I have to order them before hand?

Any help would be appreciated!

I presume you're referring to getting the AP itself at the discounted rate offered to DVC members? Yes, you can apparently get that discount even if you purchase on site. I'm a brand new DVC members and my membership came in right as my current AP was expiring. And, just prior to my upcoming trip in October. I checked with Members Services to renew and they said that I'd be better off just renewing onsite since the voucher might not get here in time. They said to just show my DVC card at the guest relations window.

This doesn't make sense to me. We also purchased the DDP this time around but we did not purchase tickets through Disney. I did purchase a MYW pass but through my Employee Benefits website. That is in no way attached to my DVC reservation! Normally I would have had an AP too, but all the DVC hostess said was that the DDP would be on my room key.

Maybe you had to buy a 1-day b/c you were not using points???

Yes, that would be why, I am guessing. I know DVC members can get DDP on a DVC points reservation, but maybe not cash.

You cannot purchase AP at the front desk but must get them at Guest Relations at one of the parks. The International Gateway Entrance at Epcot has one that rarely has anyone standing in line. Make sure to bring a picture ID for all the adults getting the AP and of course your DVC membership card.

Yes, in order to purchase the DDP, DVC members must use points at DVC resorts. If you use points at standard WDW resorts, you cannot purchase the DDP unless you get Magic Your Way passes.

I actually forgot that I posted this question .

Let me further explain...

We arrive on Oct. 3rd. From the 3rd to the 7th we will be staying at AKL out of pocket and with Dining. From the 7th to the 13th we will be staying at BCV on DVC without the DP.

When we booked the first part of the trip (the 3rd thru the 7th) we told the CM who booked us that we intended to purchase Annual Passes upon arrival. We were then told that in order to receive the DP we had to purchase a one day ticket. That ticket price would then be subtracted from price of the annual pass.

I actually just called again to confirm this. I also then asked when we go to Guest Services to purchase our annual passes (with the one day price subtracted) are we still eligible for the DVC discount?
The woman I spoke to didn't really have a clear answer. She said that it would be up to the people at Guest Services. This still leaves me a little confused.
I am using points on my vacation, just not the first leg of it. Does that not entitle me to the DVC discount?
I'm sorry if I have confused you, but I'm confused myself:lookaroun.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have never tried this, but it SHOULD work.

You should be able to go to a ticketing window, with your UNUSED 1 day MYW ticket and tell the person. I am a DVC member and would like a discounted AP, and would you please apply the price of this 1 day MYW ticket to the cost of that discounted AP.

I really see no reason why they would not be able to do that.
