how long after signing on the dotted line in the DVC offices at SS do we receive our activation code to log online? we have recently joined DVC, my partner and i brought 150 points at AKV and was wondering when can we begin to look into booking our next trip? its been 2 weeks already and i am getting anxious.

Thanks in advance.

I would call your DVC rep and inquire. Typically, if all your financials and paperwork were in order at the time you signed, you would receive a call from Quality Assurance within a week.

"Jambo" and "Welcome Home!"

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
In May they let me book right away even before the paperwork was signed when I did the process on the phone. The first day we started the process I was able to book a reservation so call your DVC rep b/c you don't even need the activation code to book. I got my activation code like a month AFTER I booked. All I needed was the initial application number that brings up you in the system that is what you use before the "activation" code. All you need the activation code for is to register online but you can physically call to make reservations before you can do it online so you don't have to wait. :)

Yes if you call 1800-800-9800 they will probably already have it in the system since they need it to print the paperwork. That's what happened with us.

thank you, got it all sorted last night, i'm one very excited bunny right now :D
Glad you got everything sorted out!! We always stayed at DVC resorts most trips as a paying guest so finally we decided to buy in May also at AKV. We loved our 1 bedroom Villa with Savannah view there and in Dec our 1st DVC stay we splurged for the 2 bed villa eventhough it's just me and the DH. We also are staying at GFV the last 2 nights of the trip in a 2 bedroom so can't wait to see those in person! All the money we paid to stay in the past at DVC properties we could have almost fully paid for our 220 points! So no brainer if we wanted to keep staying at those in the future due to their high costs. We only go every other year or so, so that allows us to use quite a few points each trip and stay longer. We are going for 12 days this time and will not be going back until 2015 or 2016 sadly. Lol. We will be traveling other places as we like to do as well the next 2 years. Anywho sorry to ramble! Very happy for you and hope you like us have many wonderful vacations in the next 44 years! Welcome Home! Happy Planning! :)

once again thank you, at least i now know i cant mingle with fellow DVC members on here. something i feel i should add, as my partner and i are 23/24 respectively are there many DVC members our age, we did have the added bonus of using some of our points when we signed up on our recent trip ( if that makes sense) because we had 3 days spare after our holiday where we had pre booked a hotel up on i-drive and well after already spending our previous 14 days of our holiday at PORS ( obviously all this was paid with cash with Virgin Holidays) we decided to save our money for the hotel on i-drive and use our points to book into our home resort, our rep Johnathon Grier was more than helpful to get this sorted for us. and used 48 points to stay 3 nights at kidani village in a deluxe studio SV room, we were VERY impressed. so very happy to have such brilliant customer service considering we had only signed up to DVC a few days prior to our check in a AKV. However...... this is where is gets a bit negative i guess.
As we are so young we felt other guests and CM were kind of shocked for us to be there. Either Presuming our parents must own DVC or whatever else. the greeter on the door to Kidani even said to us after ignoring us first thing in the morning " i didn't realize you are Disney vacation Club members, sorry about this morning. Welcome home". Now these kind of things don't really bother me, but it did to my partner.

i was wondering what your views are on a young couple from the UK being DVC members?

Thanks in advance :D

Ah, it is what it is! You're very fortunate to be able to become DVC members at a "younger" age! I hate to say it, but even now when my DH and I travel with our DD's, we don't always get the "Welcome Home" as soon as we walk thru the doors. Instead, we are "welcomed" by the CM checking us in at the front desk. Ah well! We look young, but I don't think our age had anything to do with the CM out front not welcoming us as DVC members...he at least said, "Hello and welcome to such and such resort!"

When my DH and I finally bought into DVC, we were both 26 y.o. respectively (that was 5 years ago)...and to be honest, we wished that we would've bought in when we were your age! Live and learn!

You'll get people looking at you from all different angles when you say you're a DVC member...from, "What is DVC?" to "Why would you join a time share?" We've crunched our numbers and found that a DVC membership works best for our family, and it seems like it will work for yours! There are plenty of DVC'ers on this website ranging from all over the age spectrum, so you are in good company!

I hope you have many decades of magical vacations using your DVC membership!!!

Between people renting points and rooms that go to breakage, there are plenty of non-DVC owners at a DVC resort on any given day. I think they say "welcome home" to everyone, unless they forget (which sometime they do).

While I doubt the average DVC owner is a 23/24 year old from the UK, I am sure that demographic is well represented. I know them are some people on these boards (not from the UK though) that bought into the DVC in their early 20's

I have recently purchased DVC membership and I'm 29 :) 30 in Nnovember which is when my next stay is - iv been going to disney now every other year since I was 9. I'm lucky my parents brought in when I was young and brought 250 points which means we can usually have enough points to get as studio for 2 weeks every year.

I have brought through disney resales however not through disney itself and I managed to get 250 points for. Boardwalk at the price of $21k, which in £ is just around £13500

Best advise for you being young is save p your Christmas money for presents for each other - have a look at the points charts and what You need to be comfortable with your points and how often u would like to go and top up your 150 points with A few more. Being young you will then effectively future proof your holidays as your able to also book through RCI.

There are downsides however as you are not able to book disney adventure collection, cruise or consierge collection - but they are hugely expensive and to be honest not anything that interest me. Something to look into maybe for the future .
But well done you for buying into the best thing since sliced bread!
When are you going back? I can contain my excitement for you both! Eak.

well we figured 150 points will make sense for us to start with, as we can get 1 week in VGF and 1 Week at BLT with theme park view in august 2014 (which is when we are going again) we have banked our remaining points from this year, to use with our next years points and then borrowing from 2015 to make 2014 our last trip for 2 years, as we thats how long we would leave it and go every other year. but when we do go we go all out which is cool. :p

If you can make it work that's cool!
I never go in August anymore way to warm - do not find the river of sweat running down my back at all comfortable! Lol just too hot! September is a pretty good time to visit it's less points and not so hot - bonus ;)

I think it sounds like your hooked :)
It's brilliant isn't it - I'm kinda of the opinion it's for adults not kids :)
