Dumbest Thing You've Heard a Guest Say: Florida Edition

A couple from the Far East once stopped me at the TTC, the man asked me to direct him to E-S-C-O-R-T. I blinked once or twice and then the woman ventured E-M-P-T-Y. The light went on, I got my mind out of the gutter and I directed them to the EPCOT monorail.

Overheard at EPCOT. Why did you bring to this science place? If I wanted science, I would have gone to school today.

"You Kids Ready to go to Disney World Today?" *As bus head towards The MAGIC KINGDOM!
To be fair magic kingdom is a part of wdw, and at one point was wdw, so they aren't wrong.
Heck I even call it that in normal convo since that's how most people recognize it. It doesn't bother me as much as people not doing their research on universal and disney thinking one ride is at one park, when really it's at the other.

Yeah..sure and that's why they stopped calling Disneyland the Magic Kingdom...

Meh... this one is a bit forgivable. It's not correct.... but not really that bad.

true, but it's a good reminder of how apathetic the general populace is...
walt disney world and magic kingdom have been two separate things now for 47 years.

that the fallacy is widespread and continuous doesn't make one saying it sound any less ignorant.

They're not completely separate though as Magic Kingdom falls within Walt Disney World. The Walt Disney World commercials themselves probably cause most of this confusion. They don't describe a Magic Kingdom vacation, they almost always describe a Walt Disney World vacation using imagery that blends the parks together.

But by that logic, if they're on a bus heading toward the Magic Kingdom, (assuming they didn't start their bus ride off-property) aren't they already in Walt Disney World?

My DDs future in laws, just after checking into POR for their first visit (for DDS and DSILS wedding): "Martha, you won't believe this! This place is huge! They told me there's 4 parks here, and you've gotta take a bus just to get to them!". DD had tried to prepare them well in advance, and had given them a copy of the Unofficial Guide and a suggested itinerary for the week, but none of them had bothered to read anything.

one would hope they were, at least, off-site, otherwise it borders stupidity

Danny Kaye confused the issue even more during the grand opening of E.P.C.O.T. in '82. He said, "Now E.P.C.O.T. is a part of Walt Disney World, which includes the Magic Kingdom park, which is also a part of E.P.C.O.T."

The condescension and snobbery in this thread is pathetic (well, let me be clear, I’m not talking about all of the responses here, just some of them). I mean, God forbid someone doesn’t eat, drink, sleep and breathe Disney every second of his or her life.
