When calling Disney Dining, what's the purpose of asking guests whether they're part of a meal plan when making a reservation? Are a certain number of tables reserved for those on meal plans?

Thanks,

Len

I'll be glad to answer...

There are a couple of reasons we ask. The fact you are on a package or not will have no bairing on the priority seating, it really just a guest service to you. You can book a priority seating stating you are on a package and pay with cash when you arrive, or not mention it and still pay with your "meal plan" when you arrive.

Some of the benifits are:

If the location requires the meal to be paid at the time of booking (dinner shows) or requires a deposit (Cinderella's Royal Table) the system will not charge the credit card but only hold it as a guarantee incase the party does not show or cancels within 48 hours. The restaurant will charge the penalty to the charge card, not to the package plan.

When we place in the type of package you are on, the system only list the restuarants that accept that particular package on our drop down list. This way we can inform you that you will need to pay for the meal when you dine. This will avoiding any confusion or embarassment once you arrive at the restaurant.

Also when you arrive at the restuarant, your waiter will see that you are a package. If you forget to mention it prior to ordering, the waiter knows to asks if you want to charge the meal to the plan or pay for it.

If you are using a dining plan to pay for a table service meal, you waiter will gladly "help" you order, to ensure you order everything you can with the plan, including sides, appitizers, deserts, etc. Since the waiter's tip is included, he will be paid 15% of the total cost of the meal. The greater the cost, the larger his tip, and if the guest leaves a little extra for his great service and help, all the better.

As far as other common questions on Priority seatings:

Why do we take your phone number? - just incase you forget your confirmation number, we can look it up by the phone number. This also give us the ability to pull up all your priority seatings at once. Want a print out of everything you booked once you arrive? Just go to the Guest Service Desk at your resort, give them the phone number you gave us and they can print out all the priority seatings with confirmations, times and locations.

Why do we ask ages? - So we can give you proper price information, and the restaurant knows to hold a high charge for infants, booster seats for the little ones, and offer child menus for those 3-11.

Why do we ask for your hotel and arrival date? - if we cannot honor a priority seating, (the restaurant closes due to an emergency, or say the Spirit of Aloha cancels due to weather conditions) we can leave a message on your resort room phone.
