I'm sure this has been posted before but I was wondering about the drop on EE, I like all aspects of most coasterswith the single exception of steep drops.how does it compare to say Big Thunder Moutain? Thanks for your help.:hammer:

It's not frightening at all, very similar to BTMR. The only part of the ride that could scare someone (IMO) is the steep, tall lift hill.

It's a pretty good drop, but not much worse than anything BTMRR has to offer, at least imo. The drop reminds me more of the drop on Splash Mountain than on any of the other coasters in wdw if a comparison must be made.

Have you been on Jurassic Park in Universal? That drop is MUCH STEEPER than EE.

I was too busy laughing and screaming to notice that the drop was all that big.

Well I'm not a coaster person and it took me awhile to finally try BTMRR and I did like that ride. Wouldn't be able to do Rockin Roller coaster.:hurl: So I was curious about how this ride faired to other rides also.:veryconfu

Seriously guys don't be frightened by EE. It is no different than BTMR other than it has a backwards portion and the lift is higher. The drop doesn't offer that sensation of falling that I'm sure is the reasoning behind your fears. I'd say Splash is much worse as far at that is concerned.

If you don't like drops, I suggest you not to ride in the front. In my oppinion that is the best seat on the ride, but during the drop you are going straight down. It is a blast.
I have a picture of the inlaws in the front. I will try to find it and post.
I am sure you will love it!!!

My sister is not big into coasters and I brought her on EE in August with me. The drop didn't both her as much as one point going backwards in the dark so felt like it was kinda flipping and she basically cried the entire rest of the ride, lol. I don't think it is that bad though. No worse the BTMRR

My mom hates big drops and the feeling of her stomach going out of her mouth, and she LOVES EE. I was afraid she'd hate it but when we got back in line I was surprised to see here there too!

The coaster is intense in more ways than just speed, drops, and Gs. I'm a seasoned coaster pro, I just came back from a weekend at Holiday World, so trust me ;)

Add my wife to the list of non-coaster lovers who really enjoyed EE. She says it's now her favorite ride at Disney. Actually she said her favorite ride ever. I was really tickled by her reaction to it. She went immediately back in line. Give it a shot. The drops and curves are much more fun than frightening. And on the second time you can enjoy it more because you won't be wondering the whole time what is happening next.

I HATE COASTERS. I don't do them. Big Thunder is the only coaster type ride I ride. I kept reading how EE was just like BTMRR. It's not. EE is a real coaster. Big Thunder is not a real coaster. (Granted, EE is a milder coaster than most of the insane ones out there, but it's definitely a coaster.) For anyone who doesn't like coasters, doesn't like drops, doesn't like things that are intense or disorienting, don't ride EE.

I rode EE on the mistaken belief that it was mild. I was terrified. The backwards-in-the-dark part was horrific. The drop was awful. It was the worse two minutes on a ride I can remember. It utterly ruined my day and I was shaking so bad, I couldn't walk when I got off the ride.

If you like coasters, you can ride it. If you don't, do yourself a favor and don't. There's many threads on here where many other people give their thoughts on EE and you'll see that non-coaster people like myself all say to stay away if you're also a non-coaster person. The coaster types say it's "wussy" because they're coaster-junkies and don't realize how intense EE feels to someone who's not.

But either way, EE IS NOT LIKE BIG THUNDER IN ANY WAY. That's a very incorrect statement.

Hee-hee. I'm so glad that you posted. I am also REALLY afraid of roller coasters and if there is one thing I can't stand, it is people that tell you that "it's just like..." so you get on thinking one thing just to have the crap scared out of you. People who don't have a fear of coasters have NO IDEA what people like us go through when we do manage to muster up a little bit of courage. It really is A BIG DEAL.

I was glad for that post as well. I happen to like coasters. Mid-level coasters are my favorite. So I love all the Disney coasters a lot.

However, EE is a bit more intense than BTM. EE top speed is 50 mph vs. 34 for BTM. And EE goes 40 mph backwards in the dark in a long spiral. EE has an 80 ft. drop, and BTM has no single drop anywhere near that (I can't find the length of the longest BTM drop).

Still, as coasters go, EE is really not that intense and the "coaster" part of the experience is only about a notch up from BTM. What DOES make it more intense than BTM is the theming. BTM's theming is pleasant and mostly goofy (although the almost-falling rocks always scares my DD9 a bit since several years ago her first time). EE is dramatic and really meant to be kinda mysterious and scary.

The first time I rode, I purposely tried not to read or listen to anything about it so that I would be completely surprised. You can't help but hear some things, but I did my best. And consequently that whole backwards spiral in the dark was disorienting to me - but I loved it and had a blast.

It's your own personal decision whether you think you'll like EE or not. You have to weigh a lot of different factors. Not everyone who is afraid of coasters will dislike this ride - I don't think it is that bad "coaster"-wise. Those who are OK with most coasters, but don't like intense theming (like Dinosaur - but less intense), may not enjoy it so much.

I would not equate EE to BTMR at all. I think it is a much more intense ride experience. Chances are, if Splash Mountain scares you, EE is probably not the ride experience for you.

Thank you too. It can be very frustrating when someone pushes you to "just try it!" because they have no concept of how terrifying it is for you. Thankfully, Love is awesome and never even remotely pushes me. In fact, when we got off EE, he told me he wished I would have waited and let him ride first because he would have told me not to do it. He knows what my limits are and respects them. (I hold everyone's stuff, he still gets to ride the crazy stuff. It's win-win for me. )
