Drop/add dining res

I'm a Disney vet with a unique situation upcoming- My friend and her husband are coming down on 10/18/23 for a few nights and wanted CA Grill. I have mousedining alerts set for my upcoming trip the week before, so I figured I'd add it...and was able to snag it. The idea is for me to simultaneously drop it and for my friend to pick it up, but am wondering if it's better to do this via their website (with both our computers synched; she'll keep refreshing once I drop it) or simply to have a 3 way call (remember those?) w Disney and see if they'll do it? The idea is to have this happen before all the dining alert bots get it and have somoene else swoop in (on that note, does anyone know about how long it takes for those bots to pick up on a cancellation and how long before it appears again on the dining page?).

Honestly I wouldn’t risk it. Why not just give them your reservation number and let them use it? The worst that could happen is you get hit with the no-show fee if for any reason they don’t turn up.

I was under the impression someone whose name was on the reservation had to show? Unless I suppose they showed up and said they were my wife and me? I can't recall ever being asked to provide any sort of ID at any Disney restaurant.

California Grill has plenty of same-day reservations, especially for a party of 2. I just checked the app for tonight and there are three different time slots available.

You just have to give a name. And as long as you have the reservation number in case of issues you’ll be fine.

I’ve done it several times - booked for other people and had them just give my name. Never been a problem.
