Driving to the parks from resorts?

I'm wondering whether driving is really better? For example, I envision long lines to get past the parking lot gate, waiting for the parking tram, and of course, if you're going to MK, you're parking in the TTC, not the gates of MK anyway.

Each time I've parked at TTC, I've walked rather than wait for the tram. If you can see the dip in the road that the trams go down you might as well hoof it directly from your car, crossing the tramway at a crosswalk to the sidewalk that will go down the tram-dip at Seven Seas Drive...because right after that dip is the tram depot. Ferry dock and monorail platforms are beyond that. You can zoom in on googlemaps to see the layout. Mind you, I'm not pushing a stroller or something.
I will also put in a good word for the ferry from/to the TTC instead of the monorail...more comfortable and larger capacity.

I rode the busses when I was younger and didn't enjoy it. I've rented a car for many years now. To me, its worth it when I want to get back to my resort quicker. Try using priceline or your wholesale club discounts if you want to rent.

Yeah I've always had good luck doing name your own price on Priceline, always got under $11/day for a standard car or smaller. But the last time I went was early 2012, so I'm not sure how much that's changed.

If I have a car I drive everywhere. This is mostly because I rarely stay in one park the entire day. I usually do the first half at one park then leave and drive back then drive off property to eat then return to a park that evening. Then again, leave property and eat again. I realized that the amount I was spending on disney food was the same amount of a car rental and I can get better, more food off site

I use Dollar and Thrifty - the prices can be tricky. One day it shows $300 for one week then the next day it shows $110 total for the week. I caught a deal one trip it was $95 for the week this was back in 2009 - I still cant get a deal like that today.

We have stayed off property lately since I had hotel points from corporate travel and drove in each day, MK is the only hard one. The line for monorail/ferry after wishes is terrible. I have finally gotten the hang of driving around the world.

Going agian in 10 days and staying at Coronado, I doubt I will see my car for a week.
