I plan on renting a car in December...and my question to you for getting to MK is:

Couldn't I go have lunch at Polynesian, even though I'm not staying there...and then after lunch hop on the monorail right there and go to the MK direct on the monorail? Then after the park ride it back to polynesian/car?
depends on if you want to follow the rules or not.

You would probably get away with it, but you aren't supposed to do that.

To me, it's worth the piece of mind of not worrying about being towed...I just park at the TTC.

You can get to the poly from the TTC...the path is like ten steps, lol...so it isn't even extra driving. :)

If you are staying on site and wish to use your car you can do the following.
Drive to Boardwalk and self park there. From there you can walk into the back entrance to Epcot.
You can also walk over to Hollywood Studios (about 15 min) or take the water taxi.
You can do the same at the Poly and walk to the MK or self park at GF and take mono.

Must have the white parking ticket.

If I'm not mistaken you do not get free parking just because you are staying on site?????

Actually, even if you are staying onsite you are not supposed to use (other) resorts besides your own to park and tour the parks. Again it takes up space that might be needed by the people that actually are staying at those resorts.

If you are staying onsite, you can park in any of the parks parking lots for free. There is no charge for parking for onsite guests. So do everyone a favor and just park in the regular parking lots.

We drive to all parks. I don't know if it's faster, but it certainly seems more convenient. (It should be noted that we park in the front of the parking lots so we don't take trams, which tends to save us time and aggravation.)

DRIVE!!! While I love DT - it is nothing like the convenience of your own car. And do not let it rain - that bus will smell like old socks. And when the park closes - try waiting for any bus for about an hour. I am good
