Getting ready to leave for Disney tonight and leaving10am est tomorrow. Driving straight through without stopping.

It's a 19 hour drive from our house in upstate NY. Currently it is snowing like crazy outside lol.

Just my fiance and I driving down together in our car. anyone have any ideas how to stay awake and pass the time ?

I think 'ol @SamandChel is being a little deceitful with their avatar ;) In post 3, he said "she will be on her laptop...". I think Mr. Sam is posing as a gal on here. For shame :p

You gotta be careful judging avatars... My wife is mine...but I am the only one who post here...

+1 on getting the waze app. I have it on an old phone set up on the dash for my wife to watch for police...because...I speed.

We only live about four hours from the World, I am the only one who drives, my car is a stick, which she doesn't drive. When we go with a day ahead of any parks we will stop randomly. Little quirky shops, I usually am looking for something firearm related so, I'll hit the gander mountain in Ocala. I once met my wife and mother at the disney three days after they went. It was a last minute decision to ride my motorcycle...worst one I ever made. All the joy of being on the bike was sucked out when I hit theme world traffic.
Good luck, and congratulations. The wife and I got married on carnival cruises. The day before we spent at MK...I'm sure yourtime there Will be a memory to last forever.

I've never been to 1 of those, but always wanted to. just didn't want to take too much time off the road trip. what's wrong with the 1 in NJ?
Mantenence, it was gross. Besides that there very reliable. I like it because their bathrooms are clean, the foods good, fills me up and won't kill my stomach for the ride like some of those other chain. Plus the service is fairly quick.

I live between Rochester and Syracuse and we always used to drive down when I was growing up! My mother was a Type 1 diabetic, so we had to make a lot of restroom stops! We got out and stretched our legs at every Thruway/highways stop and scenic overlook, and sometimes had a couple planned detour stops (e.g., Washington, D.C. or a random Civil War battleground along our route). On the way down, we'd listen to books on tape or Mom would read aloud (Garrison Keillor books are particularly good for this), or we'd play games or have singalongs with the radio. In the early years, we had a C.B. and Mom and Dad would chat with the truckers and find out where there was construction, speed traps, etc. (Probably a little antiquated now, but I have fond memories.) :) If I was traveling with a significant other or friend, I'd recommend "The Question Book" or a similarly funny/deep question-and-answer, getting-to-know-you game.

I do hope you'll pull over somewhere and grab a few hours of sleep rather than going straight through -- my Dad always drove down without a break -- popping "No Doze" pills all the way -- and he was always a zombie for our first couple of vacation days as a result. Just a single 4-6 hour sleep break can be the difference between happiness and misery (and, candidly, life and death.)

I wish you a safe trip!
