Has anyone driven to Disney in the month of Dec. from NY or NJ, etc.
do you think its a good or bad thing??

We drove last year but it was in May and we had three kids at the time, 1 wasn't potty trained and 1 was semi potty trained....

Now we have 4 kids, my youngest will be 15 months when we go, all the other three are fully potty trained.

I was thinking flying vs driving, the cost will be alot flying, i assume....plus i have to find out if the airlines offer insurance and what the insurance covers.
But i would love to hear everyone elses opinions on this particular month of travel...

thank you

I think I need new glasses. The first time I read this I thought it said "I" wasn't potty trained. Nearly fell off my chair.

I don't think the time of year matters too much, as long as you avoid the Christmas holiday rush days. December might even be more pleasant with less vacation traffic and cooler weather down south. You can probably dodge the snow storms on the way down if you watch weather reports, but what happens if you hit one on the way back?

I've only driven to WDW once from Connecticut, and that was enough for me. At that time it was just DW and me, and even though she was potty trained it was a pretty long and uncomfortable drive. JMHO, but I wouldn't try it with my older kids, let alone with four little ones, potty trained or not. There's only so many times you can answer the question "Are we there yet?"

I don't know where you are in the NY/NJ area, but we've gotten some really reasonable airfares if you book early at one of the smaller area airports. Maybe you can delay the trip a few months to save up for airfare? With gas approaching $3.50/gal, it might not be as much more as you think.

We are a family of four and have driven many times to Disney from PA. We have gone in the summer and also at christmas time. The trip is pretty much the same. We didn't hit any snow, I guess it could have been worse with the weather.

We were planning to drive down this past christmas, but at the last minute got a good deal from Southwest and decided to fly. With gas prices and the meal stops along the drive we figured it cost about $250 more to fly but it was worth it.
