Drinking around the world tips

Try some non-alcoholic drinks! While I unfortunately did not complete my quest last week (missed Japan, Morocco, and the UK), I found that trying a regional non alcoholic beverage in between alcoholic drinks really helped. I had tea in China, coffee in France, and a Diet Coke in America.

Also, maybe don’t have a margarita and a shot and a half of tequila (my friend and I split the flight) in Mexico on an empty stomach. Not the best way to start it.

I believe to go and drink yourself sick really is unwise. When you mix that many drinks you can only achieve drunkenness and not experience the quality and uniqueness of the alcohol you are tasting. If that is your intent I would say just go to the cheapest part of town and get a load on and save a bunch of money. Hopefully you don't kill yourself or someone else in the process. Sorry to be a downer to your 21 st birthday but I really would like you to have a twenty second one above all. My best advice maybe just do every other country and give yourself some time to walk off some of the drinks.

This topic brings up an interesting question. Is Disney just one bad accident away from a huge negative PR event and law suit? Potentially you can have unlimited drinks at EPCOT. On the outside world you are limited or flagged at a certain point. The liability to bars is huge. Can you imagine a serious accident by someone who drank their way around the world and had an accident that resulted in death. Would that be the end? Would Disney need to apply some controls to limited the number of drinks a guest can have? Now I know someone is going to say they attendant won't serve you and I say that's bunk. If it wasn't how does our poster intend to have at least 11 drinks?

Well that's sort of a depressing way to look at a birthday. But, no, you are totally right. Responsibility is key when consuming alcohol. OP doesn't seem like they're trying to get totally sloshed. Hopefully they can enjoy the day, and like you said, experience 22 lol.

Be careful mixing different types of alcohol. Coat your stomach with a bit of greasy food before, not a lot of food, but like a single piece of pizza. Stay out of the sun for too long. I've seen several people throw up the glacier shot in Norway, so be careful there.

Have fun though, it will be a long but really fun day.

I wish this was true, but unfortunately the mixing of different alcohol plays no role in the overall effect.

OP pace yourself, eat some food, and drink lots of water. Dehydration is your enemy.

That assumes that Disney isn't watching. While the CM may not be the only one watching people come and go I'd bet security behind the mouse is keeping an eye out.

OP, I had the pleasure of drinking around the world with my mom back in '99 - It was a fun experience and glad I was able to enjoy that with her. My wife made sure we all got back to FW safely. As already said; water, moderation and know your limits.

Everyone always gets up in arms when this topic comes up lol if you truly pace yourself, hydrate, and eat you will be fine. Start with Mexico and have a Margarita (liquor before beer you're in the clear, beer before liquor never been sicker. Stick with wine and you'll be fine ) My recommendation would be to make a lunch reservation half way through (maybe Germany?) and take time and relax in the air conditioning while filling your stomach.

I would call myself a moderate drinker, heavy in my college days of drinking around the world, and I ALWAYS split drinks. It's cheaper, and you don't get too rowdy. Avoid rides after the day of drinking and don't forget it's a long walk from world showcase to the parking lot so make sure you aren't stumbling around

Always Uber or take the busses. Have a great time! I wish I was 21 again haha

I think the point behind that statement is to ensure one drinks beverages with the same, or similar, alcohol contents, right? Or am I wrong? Going from chugging beers to chugging double vodka mixed drinks is a recipe for disaster lol.

In my admittedly limited experience, I've found that mixing fermented beverages with distilled drinks usually results in some sort of tumult.

I've experienced similar problems. It may be due to food in the gut as well. It's essentially one giant mixing bag, so put a few things in there that don't like each other and watch out. I know bananas and sprite can do this pretty bad!

I would have to agree with this too...I've witnessed far too many people have the same problem.

Unpopular opinion : it's not worth it. I've seen so many people escorted out of the parks for drunk and disorderly conduct that it just ruins the idea of drinking around the world. And honestly, it's just not that much fun to be that hammered at Disney World and trust me, everyone who comes out of the 'Drinks Around the World Challenge' is hammered. That's a ton of strong drinks in a short period of time.

I attempted this once : it ended after three countries and I lost my ID (this was fun when arriving at the airport for my return flight without any form of identification). I took it as a sign from the Universe that it just wasn't meant to be.

Have a few drinks, eat some good snacks. Enjoy yourself. Don't go overboard and ruin your night (and potentially the following day).

Make sure to let us know where they are serving these so-called "double-vodka mixed drinks" at WDW. Because if you get a mixed drink at WDW, there is almost always nothing in it but ice and juice, and maybe a whisper of liquor.
