Drinking Around the Monorail Resorts

What's funny, the last time I had a Lapu Lapu (2011 I think), it was the total opposite. I got next to no fruity flavor in mine...it was nearly all rum. It sounds like we'd have a really good drink if we combined our respective Lapu Lapus.
The one I had last September was mostly rum. I thought it might have been better with a bit of Pineapple Dole Whip. I also wished for a spoon, so I could eat some of the pineapple. They do leave a lot of the meat on the fruit.

Mizner's Lounge is a great place to sit back and relax. Bartenders have always been great!

Territory Lounge at Wilderness is on our list of to do's for our upcoming trip in May. We are spending 3 nights at Wilderness so the first night is planned at the lounge! Fondue, berry cobbler yes please :) oh and of course multiple drinks :)

The bar inside the Poly is a comfortable place to hang as well!
Don't forget the Drunken Doughnuts. Even though they weren't on the menu, they were still making them upon request.

I know lots of people drink around the WS, but we're looking to drink around the monorail resorts...maybe even toss in WL. While not a true "crawl," we may split it up over the course of several nights so we can take more time to enjoy our drinks, surroundings and maybe even some snacks. We're looking at hitting up both the true lounges as well as restaurant lounges/bars if time permits. DH was also asking that we include Trout Pass at WL since he likes sitting outside.

Like I said, this is not a crawl and we don't plan on becoming drunken fools...but thought it would be a fun goal for this trip to hit up all these spots. Does anyone have any recommendations on drinks or even lite bites to order that might go well for such an adventure? DH and I have already sampled several of the signature drinks from these resorts from past trips, so we're also looking to try new things beyond the old faves like the Lapu Lapu.
Sigh.... Lapu Lapu.. Sandy... stop LOLOL Now I am REALLY missing the Poly!! LOL We have done monorail crawls, but WL's Territory Lounge is notorious for their drunken donuts and fondue, Contemporary we just went to the Outter Rim and had drinks of the day before Chef Mickey's. Grand Floridian.... we never indulged.

I like this idea. I think we will do it the 1st night we get there. We dont have any plans except to relax and enjoy the resort. Now we can enjoy several resorts and have a few drinks and snacks. Thanks for the idea. :D

It's a good warm up for the Food and Wine Curcuit. All ready planning the day so we will end up watching the fireworks. I emailed the idea to the DW, and she loves the idea too.

F&W is just so awesome for any foodie... along with the many offerings, during a monorail crawl (foods, highly suggested) Like I said in an earlier post, you can time your *crawl* to see the fireworks... just a great memory!

Wow- I didn't realize you could still request them. I'm going to need to keep this in mind.

All I know is that (assuming we stick with the Contemporary for lodging) I have to remember that we END at the Contemporary. If we start at our home resort, I might get so comfy that I won't want to leave.

Outter Rim is really nice! Then stroll over to Contempo Cafe for dessert, then head up to your room for a blissful sleep in the House of Mouse :)

How late are the resort lounges open? This sounds like fun!

Honestly it depends on the lounge! Some usually close early around 10pm (Outer Rim) where as others are open as late as 12 - 2am (Tambu Lounge, Wave Bar)

Silly question: do any of the lounges need ADR's? Or is that more of a meal kinda thing?

No Lounges do not take ADR's so be aware that its a first come first serve situation, some Lounge are very popular so get there early if you are looking to have a seat and dine places like blueZoo (Dolphin), Crew's Cup (YCR), Mizner's (GFR), River Roost (PORS), Tambu Lounge (Poly), Territory Lounge (WL), Wave (CR).

Liking this thread. I'll be at WDW 5/31-6/3. My MK day is 5/31 and after a crazy day of BOG lunch, FoF, and 7DMT, I already decided my supper would be apps and drinks in Mizner's. I also like the idea of a nightcap at Narcooses. I could hop back to MK afterward, but who knows? Maybe I'll check out WL.

I've always heard of it referred to as the "Monorail Cocktail Trail". I'd love to try it someday, but, DWifey drinks what equates to about 4 glasses of wine a year, so it's not somethin' we'd really go out of our way to plan.
Anyway, we've been to 'Ohana 3 times, and the Lapu Lapus have NEVER disappointed! And, I'm DEFINITELY no teetotaller. ;)
I always order 2 and then end up finishin' 2/3 of DWifey's 'cause it's way too strong for her. :)

Drinking around the monorail is definitely a thing already. We were supposed to do it last June and even bought very cool "Drink Around the Monorail" tee shirts online. They listed all the bars on the back with little boxes to check off after you drank there. Unfortunately our trip got cancelled at the last minute so we weren't able to do it, but next time for sure.

PS- Those Lapu Lapu things are pretty to look at but fairly over-rated. They look huge but there is so much "meat" still left in the pineapple that they are actually not that big. To me it just tasted like fruit juice. You'd be more likely to catch a buzz on a tablespoon of wine cooler than this thing. But I understand wanting to try them. You couldn't have talked me out of it the first time.
I second your thoughts on the Lapu Lapu. Just tried one a couple of months ago- you don't actually get a lot of actual "drink" because the pineapple is still so meaty. I liked scraping the sides with the straw and getting a lot of pulp that had been soaking- that was tastier than the actual Lapu Lapu itself! Funny how they serve the pineapple in a bowl.

Lapu Lapu FTW! Though I think my personal favorite are the Piña CoLAVAs!

I just wish the resort bars were open later than 11pm. That's a bit weak.

They close at 11 pm? Wow... I agree. That is weak!
Yup, was at The Wave in the Contempo' and they were cleaning up and half out the door. Now granted, it was fairly quiet at the time. I don't know if 11pm is the hard cut-off, but I can see it... It IS Disney after all.

The Boardwalk has a couple of bars that are open later if you still want to get your drink on...

Never closed the little bar in the Dolphin, so not sure what their deal is.
