Drinking Around the Monorail Resorts

I know lots of people drink around the WS, but we're looking to drink around the monorail resorts...maybe even toss in WL. While not a true "crawl," we may split it up over the course of several nights so we can take more time to enjoy our drinks, surroundings and maybe even some snacks. We're looking at hitting up both the true lounges as well as restaurant lounges/bars if time permits. DH was also asking that we include Trout Pass at WL since he likes sitting outside.

Like I said, this is not a crawl and we don't plan on becoming drunken fools...but thought it would be a fun goal for this trip to hit up all these spots. Does anyone have any recommendations on drinks or even lite bites to order that might go well for such an adventure? DH and I have already sampled several of the signature drinks from these resorts from past trips, so we're also looking to try new things beyond the old faves like the Lapu Lapu.

My friends and I have done both a Crawl and just hanging around having a few drinks, snacks and sites.

Here are a few suggestions on the What, Where, When, Why, and in some cases How:

__Contemporary__

Outer Rim - Is a great little lounge with some of the most beautiful views of Bay Lake as the sun goes down unfortunately its only open for a couple hours and can be very loud being in the middle of the Grand Canyon Concourse

Wave - Probably one of the best bars on property especially at night usually with a great crowd and more of a nightlife feel. We really enjoyed the Buffalo Mozzarella Flatbread, and the Appetizer for two ( Crab Cakes & the Scallops and Shrimp) Skip the Pretzels w/Dips the dips were weird and one was reminiscent of the cheese that comes from a squeeze can. The Florida Organic Vodka is amazing

__
Grand Floridian__

Mizners Lounge - Great place if you like Cigars (I can't stand the smell) though back when I did smoke cigarettes it was a great place to hang out and have a drink. BTW Drinks and Cigars are quite expensive but one of the great things about this place is that they offer food and deserts from the restaurants in the resort! My friends liked the Charcuterie (I do not eat Meat) but I did have the Snails from Citricos and I liked them.

__
Polynesian__

Barefoot Pool Bar - Great place to get a drink to watch the fireworks at night or during the day while enjoying the beach and pool

Kona Island - No its not really a bar but my friends and I are huge fans of sushi so a stop here at night for a bite to eat and a drink is always fun

Tambu Lounge - No Crawl could be complete without a trip to everyone's favorite bar and you have to at least share a Back Scratcher, Lapu Lapu, or a Pina Colada

__Wilderness Lodge__

If you don't have a car you will have to catch a boat to the resort, I prefer the ride from either the MK or the Contemporary

Territory Lounge - Another favorite place to hang out but usually during the late afternoon to early evening to get some food since the lounge serves Artist Points full menu plus some great snacks that can only be found here. We really like the Chilled Ahi Tuna and the Sharp Cheddar-Beer Fondue, if you are looking to try the Drunken Doughnut they are no longer available

Trout Pass Pool Bar - Though there is not a lot of options when it comes to food & drinks its still a nice place to get a drink and then find a seat to watch the geyser

Mizner's Lounge is a great place to sit back and relax. Bartenders have always been great!

Territory Lounge at Wilderness is on our list of to do's for our upcoming trip in May. We are spending 3 nights at Wilderness so the first night is planned at the lounge! Fondue, berry cobbler yes please :) oh and of course multiple drinks :)

The bar inside the Poly is a comfortable place to hang as well!

Darn, that woulda been great as a stop at the monorail crawl.

The Mouse does not serve booze at the TTC since most of the guests that use it are heading either into the MK (where alcohol up until recently was banned) or back to their cars in the parking lot. Another reason is since guests are not waiting around the TTC for long, it would be pointless to have anything more than a QS or kiosk that serves drinks and snacks.

I love Mizner's Lounge, we like to just kick back relax and listen to the music while enjoying a beverage or two. The food is ok, we usually try to hit it up before a dinner reservation at either the Poly or Contemporary.

Drinking around the monorail is definitely a thing already. We were supposed to do it last June and even bought very cool "Drink Around the Monorail" tee shirts online. They listed all the bars on the back with little boxes to check off after you drank there. Unfortunately our trip got cancelled at the last minute so we weren't able to do it, but next time for sure.

PS- Those Lapu Lapu things are pretty to look at but fairly over-rated. They look huge but there is so much "meat" still left in the pineapple that they are actually not that big. To me it just tasted like fruit juice. You'd be more likely to catch a buzz on a tablespoon of wine cooler than this thing. But I understand wanting to try them. You couldn't have talked me out of it the first time.

Though I am not a huge fan of Rum or foofoo drinks for that matter I don't mind sharing a Lapu Lapu ffrom time to time. Just so you know you don't have to get it in a pineapple the tenders usually do ask if you would prefer it in a glass. Personally I like it in a glass since its less sticky, easier to walk around with I feel like you get a bit more and I believe there is an extra charge for the pineapple.

What's funny, the last time I had a Lapu Lapu (2011 I think), it was the total opposite. I got next to no fruity flavor in mine...it was nearly all rum. It sounds like we'd have a really good drink if we combined our respective Lapu Lapus.
