Hello everyone!!

Just a random thought............

If you were one of the select few Disney cast members designing the next Walt Disney World Resort, what Resort theme would you pick?? (considering what themes have already been used). If enough people reply, then I will announce the top 3 suggestions!!

Looking forward to hear all your ideas.

A Greek/Roman theme would be awesome. I believe that was what the Venetian Resort was originally supposed to be in te Seven Seas Lagoon. It would be awesome with stone sculptures and resort buildings with huge stone columns and fountains located throughout the resort. Oh, and Roman bath house pool area.

Probably not my type of thing, but what about a Wild West type of theme?? I think that could be cool with stories from a cowboy around the fire etc. Although it may be too similar to Ft Wilderness. I love the Venetian idea probably as a deluxe resort and that one should probably be adults

Here's a quick idea, what about something with a Lost City of Atlantis theme? You could have waterfalls all over the place, the colors would be light blues and teals. And since Atlantis was suppose to have been around in the time of the ancient greeks, you could use the greek arciticture in the construction of the guest rooms, pool and lobby area. Think about it, not one resort really features water as the main element, this one does. Yeah many resorts have water incorporated (WL's Stream, CS's lagoon) but not one uses water as the main theme. Atlantis would cover a whole new realm and would fit in perfect with disney themeing. Just a thought though, I wish I could show you what i see in my head, but im just not that good with words so you'll have to rely on your own imaginations. Oh and that Venetian idea is great as well, I always thought they should do something more for honeymooners and the gondola would be awesome date experience  . Oh well hoped you liked the idea, who knows what we'll see in the future from Disney???

TownSquareSteve,
I'm with you on Atlantis. That would be great. Much like what the Atlantis resort is like in the Bahamas. Thats a real cool place. Probably would run into issues copying the name and what not.
How about an EPCOT themed resort. Utilizing some of the ideas sketched early on making things look very space aged. Enclose it in a glass dome. Use lots of moving sidewalks. Maybe a lot like a 70's idea of what the future will bring. So maybe a combo EPCOT / Tomorrowland type of place.

Whats interesting is the themes used in Disneyland Paris. The American region themes. It was real fun seeing our country's regions represented in another country.

I like a couple of the ideas already mentioned. The Atlantis theme would be killer, just would it be more like a flooded Pompeii, or like Disney's Atlantis movie? It would be great to put it where the original plans for the Venetian themed resort would have been (on Seven Seas Lagoon, south of Contemporary and west of the Wilderness Lodge).

Also wannabeBelle's Wild West theme would be nice, especially as another Moderate Resort. It could be themed like an old Western town (which I believe is the theming of Disneyland Paris's Hotel Cheyenne) It would also be good in one of two locations - on Bay Lake to the north of Ft. Wilderness (keeping with the wilderness / Western America themes already there with Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge). Or it could reside by Coronado Springs, tying them together in a Western / Southwestern area.

I like the idea of a Persian/Indian theme (I know this was also supposed to be one of the original resorts). Could you imagine staying in the Taj Mahal or someplace reminiscent of Aladdin's Agrabah?

Another idea I like, and I know has been mentioned somewhere on these boards in the past, is a Haunted or Twilight Zone styled resort. Though it may seem a bit drearier than the other resorts, the opportunities for unique experiences and decor abound. And yes, I love HM & ToT.

(BTW - this is my first post, but have been 'lurking' for quite a while  )

I also have thought a NYC themed place would be fun. The main building would be designed to look like the building on Ellis Island symbolizing the guests entering "a new world" and you'd be greeted with the Statue of Liberty at the front much like the immigrants were. A big open landscaped area called "Central Park in the middle of the resort. Each building would be themed to a different neighborhood. Brownstone styled buildings for "Upper West Side" and things like that. Arcade, food, shopping in a "Times Square" section of the resort. And ideally, it would be along a monorail line and the monorail station would be designed to resemble a subway station.

Of course, the resort would be MUCH cleaner and more welcoming than the real NYC :p

A 1920's era resort. Kind of like TOT but a lot cleaner. LOL

You took the words right out of my mouth, i always wanted to see a haunted mansion theme also, the different areas could be differently levels of scary to make it family-friendly but that resort would sell out daily.

:king: I think...they should have a resort that is either Cinderella's Castle or Sleeping Beauty's Castle. A huge and beautiful castle with servants around every corner would be wonderful! :sohappy:

I absolutely loooove the Atlantis idea! But definitely make it more like Pompeii and not like the Disney movie. That could totally incorporate the Ancient Greek theme. I'm thinking of something like the first couple of scenes of Journey to Atlantis at Sea World.

Someone mentioned a medieval castle hotel. That would be awesome! If they wanted to make it "more Disney" they could call it Cinderella's castle or Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

I like the idea of an Asian theme too, with a lot of pagodas and things like that. Maybe modeled after the Emperor's palace in Japan. It's really beautiful there.

I think we're all thinking of deluxe hotels though! Maybe for a moderate, something like a Bavarian village or an Alpine ski lodge. Some European designs would be nice. Kind of a parallel to the Disneyland Paris hotels.

Wasnt a Ski Lodge proposed to be built along side Blizzard Beach? There is concept Art for it in the Walt Disney Imagineering Book. A Ski Lodge would be nice but it is a similar concept used twice now at WDW, We have WL and AKL.

I like the Wild West moderate idea. It could run from where River Country used to be up to WL, effectivley creating a whole Wild West area.

I would love to actually have a place where you can stay in the characters homes. Ex Cindy Castle. Snow Whites House. Goofy's House.

That's a great idea. You can actually make it a various style hotel as far as price. The moderate section can be the Mickey, Donald, Goofy type rooms and the deluxe section can be the Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty type suites with a spa, etc.

Being from NY, I'd also like to see a NYC theme, but we get a small feel for NY in MGM.

I do think a new deluxe resort is due though, does anyone else?

Only 99 more days til I'm home :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

I think the idea of a Bavarian Village would be astounding. I love the idea of European themed resorts ( Maybe sections within one resort England Section, Germany Section, Italy section etc.)
I was giving some more thought to my Wild West idea. The Main Building could be themed to a Saloon and the hotel buildings could look Western outside kinda like the main drag in the old Western towns. Have different buildings labeled as the blacksmiths, general store, newspaper etc!! I think this would be best as a Moderate resort though.
I am completely taken with the Atlantis idea as a deluxe resort though. That would be astounding!!!! Belle

I would also love to see a Grecian themed resort but what about a medieval castle style resort with a moat!
I would have to say greek themed resort... But they probably will do that when they put greece in the world showcase.... Damn I have to say that kinda makes me angry... I am 100% greek and I would really enjoy going to the World Showcase if they had greece in there... I have never gone to that part of Epcot since Greece wasn't there... It kinda ticked me off LOL
