With all the talk about possible "big changes" coming to Pleasure Island with the addition of new restaraunts it got me thinking, seeing how DTD aleady houses some pretty well-known chain restaraunts (such as Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood), what other chain restaraunts would you like to see added (if any)? I would love to see an ESPN Zone (although I don't want it to replace Disneyquest like some people have rumored).

There's already an ESPN Zone on the Boardwalk. The last thing Disney needs is to bring in MORE chains and dilute the experience with other companies. The 2 Rainforest Cafes and the excess of McDonalds' ads in the parks are more than enough for me.

it would be a great place for a Chuck E Cheese... but i don't think they would want a rat competing with a mouse.

unfortunatly Univeral got most of the cool resteraunts.

Well lets see what chains do they already have?
House of Blues
Cheese Cake Factory
McDonalds x3 (Near WWofS, AK, DTD)
McDonalds fries x2 (AK, MK)
McDonalds nuggets & fries (Epcot)
Rainforest Cafe x2 (AK, DTD)
Fulton's Crab House
Planet Hollywood
Raglan Road
Wolfgang Puck
ESPN x2 (BW, WWofS)

And I am sure there are plenty more around the resort. As for what I would like to see....... I have no idea!!
Maybe a Publix Deli!!! All you southern people know what I am talkin about

Disney needs to make a deal with Starbucks and let them come in. Once that happens I will never have to leave Disney property. :)

None.

I can eat at a chain anywhere, this is supposed to be a UNIQUE place to vacation.

I can't believe someone's pulling for MORE Starbuck's locations...

Actually, interesting story. Disney got the first bid after Starbucks when it first started going national. However, they declined the opportunity (assuming they thought it was not worth it and that the trend would die. Hindsight, huh! ). Now that Universal has it, though, I will guarantee you there is a non-compete clause in there. Furthermore, I believe Nestle's agreement with providing NesCafe would include a provision keeping major chains like Starbucks out as well. As much as I love it, the Bux will not be caffeinating the mouse anytime soon.

Back on topic, the majority of chains coming to WDW have strong themes and unique dining experiences. Therefore, there aren't many that come to mind that are large chains. However, there are some other groups that are trying out ideas that might make the cut. As of now, DTD is lacking a really nice place, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a lakefront venue, perhaps from a winery or other place to secure that side.

The other thing about DTD is that it competes for a fair amount of local crowd as well, so it has the rest of Orlando to contend with as far as competitors. I will be interested to see who makes the cut in the near future.

One thing that I would like to see at DTD is a good high end steakhouse. Something along the lines of a Morton's, Charlie's or Ruth Chris.

ESPN zone would be good, most of the folks who go to the ESPN club at BW are from the 5 resorts, BC,YC,BW,Swan, Dolphin. Not sure where I stand on DQ issue, been there, done that, haven`t been back since.

Boardwalk has ESPN Club, ESPN Zone is more like a sports themed chuck e cheese. I for one think its a great idea. Other than that i would like to see something with an upscale asian theme not wolfgang pucks.

Isn't the restaurant in WWoS an All-Star Cafe and not ESPN?

Oh...you have to be kidding. I can get that at home first of all....and it's just so "un-Disney".

Great idea....or maybe a good Chinese restaurant.

DTD...and I don't mean PI or WestEnd...really is short of some decent places to eat. If you've ever been to Disneyland....their DTD has some really good places to eat...ESPN Zone, Ralph Brennan's, House of Blues, Naples Ristorante...

But I think that's what brings many people to Epcot. We have priority seating in China for the candel light show this monday. The variety there is a big draw for people. But, you never know what disney has planned.:lookaroun

Charlie's is already on 192.

Why not a TGI Fridays or maybe Applebee's ?
True but it is not on property. There is a McDonald's at DTD and another one right across the street from the entrance at Hotel Plaza Blvd. Granted Charley's and McDonald's can't really be compared but it just dives the point home that for the most part the average WDW guest does not off property to dine. IMHO I would rather not see chains come to DTD. I like the unique restaurants run by Disney but as we all know the chains that come to Disney property are nothing but profit without effort for WDC.
