Disney needs to make a deal with Starbucks and let them come in. Once that happens I will never have to leave Disney property.
Actually, interesting story. Disney got the first bid after Starbucks when it first started going national. However, they declined the opportunity (assuming they thought it was not worth it and that the trend would die. Hindsight, huh!
). Now that Universal has it, though, I will guarantee you there is a non-compete clause in there. Furthermore, I believe Nestle's agreement with providing NesCafe would include a provision keeping major chains like Starbucks out as well. As much as I love it, the Bux will not be caffeinating the mouse anytime soon.
Back on topic, the majority of chains coming to WDW have strong themes and unique dining experiences. Therefore, there aren't many that come to mind that are large chains. However, there are some other groups that are trying out ideas that might make the cut. As of now, DTD is lacking a really nice place, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a lakefront venue, perhaps from a winery or other place to secure that side.
The other thing about DTD is that it competes for a fair amount of local crowd as well, so it has the rest of Orlando to contend with as far as competitors. I will be interested to see who makes the cut in the near future.
