Downtown Disney Updates 8/18/05

The Guitar Gallery in the Westside closed and ceased operations on August 9th.

Raglan Road, over at Pleasure Island, is now sporting an "Early Fall" opening schedule. (As opposed to "Summer" as listed before)

The World of Disney store at Marketplace will begin a rolling refurbishment/redecoration in October, lasting until April 2006. The store will remain open during the update.

The entire Downtown Disney area is slated for an overhaul in the coming months. Survey crews and other workers will be seen throughout the property in the following weeks preparing for the work.

thanks for the update. World of Disney being redecorated/refurbished sounds pretty interesting cant wait to see the new look evenn though the current look I think is great, but thats disney for you always changing things. I hope with the "overhaul" they change some of the building exteriors to look better I am not a big fan of the yellows, reds and browns

Just please, please, PLEASE don't touch the gigantic Jessica Rabbit at the west end of Pleasure Island. I can admit I might have a bit of a "problem" - OK, obsession with her - but it really wouldn't be the same on the West Side without her huge swinging leg dangling over Downtown.

Thanks for the DD updates. I'm going down in November and I'm looking foward to all of these refurbishments and changes that will be taking place then. Downtown Disney is great how it is now, but I'm excited to see what these new changes will bring. And also, there's that new Irish restaurant they're currently building there.

i have always enjoyed DTD. it is a nice get away and relaxing walk around just looking at the sites.

Thanks for the update. We are going in December and Raglan Road is the place we wanted to try out when we were down there. Also glad they are not closing the World of Disney store during renovations as we like that store and with the Chase Disney Credit Card we can not get a 10% discount.

Bad News. The West End Stage is going to be torn down. Will the sign make it thur, who knows... but the stage itself is gone.

Are they planning to change back Pleasure Island to just those with tickets and over 18? I was there last weekend and its really sad to see people drinking and having to battle strollers and little kids walk around. It just doesnt look right and doesnt add to the club environment. I refuse to go back there until they change it. Not very inviting to be tipsy and running into a stroller. :hurl:
