Downtown Disney. Should I bother?

I have a 4 night/5 day trip coming up and I have planned a pretty full itinerary for it.
I am doing 3 parks and a full resort day with time at the Boardwalk.
I have not included any time at DD because the last time I was there I found it kinda boring.
That was about 6 years ago.
Is it worth it to check out? Has it changed much in the past 6 years?
Any feedback is appreciated!

We usually go to DTD on our first night, because I live out west and the flight doesn't arrive in Orlando until 5 PM. We eat dinner and then do some shopping. If you're into shopping, a stop at World of Disney might actually save you time over shopping in the parks. Or, if you want a specific store, like TrenD (my personal favorite). Otherwise, you probably don't need to bother.

It's not boring but it's also not a must do. Maybe you could try and squeeze it in on your resort day if that's possible. Personally, I wouldn't give up park time to go to DTD. They have some shops and restaurants as well as a really nice bowling alley over on the west side.

I would agree sacrificing park time for DTD isn't worth it but it all depends on you. I mean, this is what I would do in your situation. Ask the front desk for a map of Downtown Disney, take a glance at it and see if there any shops and/or restaurants that interest you. If there's any, then either plan it around your resort day if possible (Maybe I don't know, head to DTD in the morning and then Boardwalk for the rest of the day or something. I haven't been to the Boardwalk myself so I can't really judge if that takes a full day to do the activities you want to do there.) or maybe do it on your arrival day right after you check in and unpack if possible. (The best case scenario in my book) I mean, DTD isn't really something you can plan an entire day around but if you have some time like say, 2-3 hours to spare, then check it out. If not, then I would probably say skip it.

DTD is a must for us too...on our last day! We have breakfast at one of the buffets near our resort, then check-out and head to DTD. When we're done shopping, we grab an ice cream treat at Ghiradelli's and leave the property. We stop at a couple of the Disney/Character outlets on our way home...one near property and the other near St. Augustine's. It's part of our last day tradition.

Since we usually stay at POR, DTD is a boat ride away to Ghirardelli's icecream and Earl of Sandwich. We enjoy casually strolling and browsing the shops, but would not skip park time to include this. For a 4 night stay, I would not even put this in my plan.
