Downtown Disney appreciation

I have spoken to some travelers who have never visited Downtown Disney, or have only spent an hour or two there.
We really like it and go at least a couple of times per trip. Last fall we stayed at SSR and walked over every day. Been going there for many years and even stop there on the way to other Florida destinations for a few hours if we don't have time for a park visit.
We like all the restaurants, my wife loves to window shop and we always have to get some chocolate. Cirque, to me, is a little overrated but everyone should see it once.
Anyway, is DTD a must do for you, or a take it or leave it kind of place?

House Of Blues and Raglan Road are always a must for us. This last trip, we finally made time to walk around the Marketplace and visit all the shops. Thats something we never actually did before. We ended up buying lots of souveniers. And I agree,I love the Lego store as well as the Art of Disney store.

The House of Blues gospel brunch is one of our favorites in all of Orlando.

I have to say, we always did the same thing.... go for a couple of hours, do dinner, hit disneyquest and head back to our resort... until last year. We had a blast!!! There was a band playing close to Planet Hollywood, we must have spent a good hour singing along and dancing. (After dinner at Raglan Road) It was awesome! There was a performer, doing all of the dance crazes over the last few decades... OMG it was sooo much fun!! This year, I am letting DH do all of the planning (trying my best to make him a disney lover!!) and first thing he said, after insisting we stay at Wilderness Lodge, after all the great things my wdwmagic sista @poohlover said, was he wants to spend more time at DD!!! I was shocked!!!! Of course, a trip to Basin is planned ;)

Downtown Disney is a place that I spend time at while I am at WDW. I go there for shops, food and Cirque Du soleil-La Nouba.

The places I go to Downtown Disney includes Art of Disney, World of Disney, Goofy's Candy co., Ghiradelli's, Wolfgang Puck Express, and Days of Christmas.

We discovered it two trips ago when we stayed at POFQ...the boat ride was great unless it was the end of the night and you had to try to get back to the resort. We love Raglan Road especially after 9PM when the real fun begins.

I will say that POFQ, POR, SSR are definitely at an advantage to bring first timers out to DTD. Before we hopped a boat there for the heck of it I really did not have a clue what it was other than the defunked PI that I had read so much about.
