Dont know what to do...

We, DW, DD3 DD7, and myself are going to WDW at the end of OCT 2010. We already have reservations at Coronado. We love Coronado and all of its features, especially the queen size beds. Here is the problem, my cousins ar staying at Boardwalk Villas (DVC) and we were considering making the leap to stay at Boardwalk Inn. I havent heard alot about the Boardwalk Inn and what I have heard was negatives about the availablity off eateries at Boardwalk. Also how close is the Boardwalk Villas from the Inn, is it on the other side of the Boardwalk. Not to sure what to do. I am looking for some advice all help will be greatly apprecaiated.

Thanks
Erik

I LOVE Boardwalk Inn. I'd stay there over any other resort at WDW. It's a fantastic location and there's always something to do on the boardwalk. Staying in such close proximity to epcot is a dream. As far as not having a lot available as far as food goes...that's definitely NOT the case. There are many restaurants and shops and stands to get tons of food at. They range from fancier places to sports bars so you've got a lot to choose from. I highly suggest you stay there if there are still rooms available for October.

The Villas are connected to the Inn so there is no problem there. The rooms at the Inn are nice and big which is a good thing with small kids. We love being close to EPCOT ( my kids are 15 & 22 so they go off by themselves) and it's just a short walk.

My family did not like the food offerings at the Boardwalk, but that's just us as many others love what is there. My biggest problem was that all 5 EPCOT hotels were sharing the same bus and they were few & far between and very crowded.
After 3 totally full buses passed us by we drove to the MK in our own car.

Thanks for the replies so far. We are looking forward to our trip. Is there really a big problem with the bussing going to MK and AK. HOw many stops are there at BW and who does BW share stops with?

We stayed at the BWV last year for Jersey Week (arrived on 10/31). We've stayed there several times, mostly mid-November.

We never really had a problem with the MK busses. On the way in, they do stop at Swan & Dolphin (2 stops) before you head to the park. BWI is the first stop on the way back. (if you are on a bus that stops at Swan first, you can hop off and do the ten minute walk to the BWI)

DAK busses - we HAVE had a problem with those. They make the Swolphin stops, and stop and Blizzard Beach (if it is open). And, for some reason, almost every single time we exit DAK we watch a BWI bus leave and have to wait for the next one.

DTD is by far the worst, tho. One bus for ALL of the Epcot Resorts. I was on one bus from DTD that we had waited 45 minutes for, then proceeded to do the whole epcot resorts loop. Talk about some p.o.'ed deluxe hotel guests. Many people declared that they would NEVER stay at Y&B or BWI again because of this. We are just going to take taxis from DTD from now on.

But, walking into Epcot? Taking a leisurely boat ride to DHS? THE BEST!!!

The boardwalk would share a bus with the Beach club, the Yacht club, and the Swan and the dolphin!
The stops generally go to the swan and the dolphin first then the boardwalk, then the yacht and ending with the beach club!
You can always get off at the swan and dolphin and walk over (it's only a five minute walk at tops)
I remember last year when we were stayin at the Beach club we got off at the boardwalk and walked back!It took us 15-20 mins cause we stopped off in the bakery for some delicous snacks!!
Hope you have a great trip!

It's not that there aren't a lot of food options at Boardwalk, it's just that there's not a food court, where in one giant indoor area you can find all sorts of food to satisfy everyone in your family. And because Boardwalk is a higher traffic area than many of the other resorts (especially compared to Coronado), you're not only dealing with guests of the resort, but many more visitors when it comes to getting what you want and finding a place to dine. However, you are close to the Beach Club, where there's at least a marketplace where it's easier to pick up some sandwiches for a quick(er) lunch.

By staying at Boardwalk, you also have access to more kinds of sit down restaurants, all within walking distance, than you would staying at Coronado. I don't know how much of a perk that is nowadays, where it's hard to walk up to any restaurant and be seated without reservations. But within 10 minutes' walk, you have available to you...

Plus all of the restaurants at the Studios and Epcot.

And so I don't sound like a complete foodie, the pool at Boardwalk is great (I know Coronado's is no slouch, either), views are great, and the location is 2nd only to monorail resorts, and depending on your tastes and your family's tastes, it may even be preferable. My wife like to take a more leisurely approach to vacations, and often wants/needs to wind down in the afternoon, poolside or napping. When we stayed at Boardwalk, I'll admit to "sneaking" out of the room in the afternoon while she napped, going over to the Studios, enjoying the parade and various attractions she had less interest in (or re-doing things we did together, where once was enough for her). Rode single line in RnRC, walked through the One Man's Dream exhibit, a few other things, and was still back in the room and showered before she woke up. So if you have some family members with energy to burn, but some of you want to crash, it's a nice compromise. Even if you spent the morning in the MK or AK, you all head back to your room together, then some of you walk over to Epcot or the Studios while the others crash. You're still all reasonably close if there's a problem or emergency.

I concur that BW is a great resort. I loved being able to easily walk to two parks. Slappy is right... there are plenty of places to eat around that area. The busses haven't been too crowded or slow in coming for us, but they do make several stops at the hotels, as others have said, when it's the slow season... during high season they seem to have more busses so you only stop at SW&DO, not at B&Y. But then, it's the same way for Poly, WL and GF who share a bus most of the time. IMHO, that small negative is far outweighed by the positives.

Also, another big bedding advantage (besides the queen beds) of the deluxes, compared to the moderates, is that the deluxes have the pull out daybed. Both of my children sleep SO much better when they have their own bed, which means we all get a better night's rest and have a better vacation. You can request a room with a daybed when you book. However, even if you don't get a daybed room, the rooms are big enough for a rollaway, and they will provide one upon request.

I've stayed at every deluxe, and my two favorites are BWI and Poly. I don't think you'll regret it if you stay at BW.
