Dolphin death at Discovery Cove

Unfortunately today two of the dolphins collided when they did a jump. One named Sharky who is a 30 year old dolphin did not survive. The other dolphin is expected to be OK.

That's so sad - I assume that it happened in full view of guests ??

Poor Sharky.

They're now looking at their training practices to ensure this doesn't happen again. A park official described it as a "freak accident"


They will be using Sharky’s remains for science and research and will dispose of them properly in accordance with federal guidelines.

Terrible to hear, but I understand things like this can happen, it must happen in the wild all of the time.

That's terrible. I love dolphins. When I lived on MacDill AFB. I seen dolphins all the time from my dormroom window.
